In your heart, do you think we are already down...?

Does any part of you still cling to the tiniest hope that we won't be relegated?

Yep, we're f*cked so enjoy the ride back to the Championship

We're down, we'll be bottom and it sounds as though the spirit of the club is broken.

I've never known the season be over so soon. In other divisions there are usually enough other candidates to go tits-up that you can carry on hoping til March at least. Not in this damn unforgiving league.

I'm concentrating on the Cup. I've got my ticket for Crawley which might be the last meaningful game of the season.

Of course there's a 10% chance I'm wrong which is the fundamental beauty of football - you never know.

It became clear to me when we played Peterborough Utd in the cup.

And to think after the Chelsea game we thought it may come down to that one goal difference!

I'm losing faith, but stranger things have happened, and we certainly won't stay up if we give in/maybe three teams will fold?

Last night, when our injury ravaged squad forced us to play a very under strength team, was only the second time we've lost by more than the odd goal despite being deprived of our No1 'keeper plus Kebe and Karacan for several games now.

In that time, we've been narrowly defeated away from home to 3 or 4 relegation rivals who were little better than ourselves. We have all those return fixtures back at the Mad still to play and a whole month of transfer window to make the reletively slight improvements required to win some or all of these future six pointers.

On that basis, suggesting we are already down is typical of the utter nonsense some have been posting here for more than a decade............................many of whom being the same fans who were crying like baby's this time last year because any chance of promotion had already passed us by :P

Having said all that, we will be in very good shape with a very decent young squad and 4 years parachute payments should we find ourself back in the second tier PROVIDING our resident knee-jerkers don't get their way and we end up waving goodbye to one of the best the managers the club has ever had.

Anytime we have in the prem is a bonus, i honestly beleive that anton, JM and BM did not expect us to make promotion. They had a plan as to what they were going to do this season whether it be in the prem or in the championship and stuck to their guns in the transfer market. BM's job i imagine is safe however the rest of the season turns out...we'll make a few additions in jan (nothing to set the world alight i bet, most likely a keeper and a midfielder) and just use the rest of the season as a learning curve. go down with a strong squad and come back up.
ive heard that over the next year or so we'll see some further investment from a third party which will also help i our quick return.

Cheers for the welcome gunny! Those weren't my words, apparently what Samuelson said himself, then again could be complete bull!

We're down unless we sack McDermott and bring in a manager capable of proper football.

Just discussing this with the Mrs and she said:

Yeah - but the magical child was born by the 25th; we need the miracle to start before then v Arsenal and Man C

You may well turn out to be right about next season but I can't agree with you about our young players when the following will be 30+,:-
Harte
Gorkss
Shorey
Ledge
McAnuff
Roberts
Bryn
Plus permanently disabled Kebe and Hunt.
Very few clubs have survived from the position we are now in and I don't expect us to.
To say that the manager is one of the best we have ever had is true and sounds impressive but we haven't had many who have been any good so being the best of a bad bunch is not such a big deal.

The other point of yours and made by the mad man about often only losing by the odd goal,so what,we have lost those games.
It is no surprise that by playing two defensive midfielders we are unlikely to get thrashed very often but conversely we don't create many chances-that also makes it surprising that we have scored so many and I would suggest that our goals to chances ratio is probably quite high.

The worst part of this season is the way we play-we are the Wimbledon of 2012 in trying just to get free-kicks and corners and it's more like rugby with defenders and midfielders constantly knocking the ball long for field position.
Brian just doesn't seem to have any other way of playing whoever he picks-it worked at the lower level but it sure ain't working where we are now and I think I'll scream the next time that every defender backs off and let's an opposition player run at them until they are close enough to have a shot.
Brian, this is not non-league where players won't hit the target from 20 yards,it is the Premier League where they are capable of hitting the target and often do.
