Jez
bakerlou £½m for Sean Evers.

£700k for that right winger from York City was a lot as well, whatever his name was.

risking a whoooosh here but i think you mean Graeme Murty??

Thought Evers was £750k and right up there as the worst

Nick Blackman, worst panic buy in history, £1.2million we splurged on him, could have bought someone a lot better than him for that kind of money which we rarely spend.

Bit of an unfair tag, there. Give the lad a proper chance.

It would be great if someone could do a list of our biggest transfer outlays, top 20 or something. I know most are undisclosed but it could be an unofficial rumoured list.

Then we could make our most expensive 11! Captained by Halford of course. Goalkeeper is a tricky one, most of them have been free! Phil Whitehead at 250k?

Though surely this has been done before?

£2.5m Fae
£2.5m Halford
£2.5m Mills
£2m Gunter
£2m Mariappa
£1.2m Matejovsky
£1.2m Blackman
£1m Williams
£1m Kelly
£1m Bikey
£1m Lita
£1m Leigertwood
£1m Seol
£900k Gorkss
£800k Asaba
£800k Convey
£800k Goater
£800k Duberry
£700k Murty

Some of these fees may not be entirely accurate and I've probably missed one or two players and got a couple of fees totally wrong. But it's a starting point for you.

Anagram of Emerse Fae is Me Arse Fee, which sums him up perfectly.

Maybe someone with a greater knowledge than me can suggest a full team of worst buys?

Hi Cape Town Royal

I'll be in your neck of the woods Sun-Thurs.

What's the weather like over there at the moment? Do you want me to bring you over a Kingsley key ring or anything?

Cheers,

Mags

If ever there was a list that confirmed you cannot buy (or RFC cannot buy) success then this surely is it. You would struggle to make a decent Championship team out of that lot.

You could easily make a 'decent' championship team out of that. I reckon you could challenge for play offs with one of those if we are talking about how good they were when they initially signed (i.e pre-injury Convey and Murts - age)

If Mark Reilly cost us a transfer fee, then the answer to the initial question is yes. If he was paid by RFC, then the answer is yes. THE worst player to wear the hoops in my lifetime

It's telling that so few of those big money names could be considered for even an honourable mention as candidates for a PotS award in their time here.

I remember thinking we did well to recoup £600k of the £800k we spent on Carl Asaba. Got to have been the worst striker since Colin Flash Gordon.

I'd wager that Francis Joseph (signed at the same time as Colin Gordon in 1987) was definitely worse.

Neville Roach and Martin Williams might have something to say about it too. Not to mention all the dross that came after.

I think Flash was more disappointing as he had a goal every other game record at Wimbledon before he came to us and looked the part that made it much worse when you witnessed him flicking his hair and missing a tap in.

I just knew instantly that Francis Joseph was going to be shocking.
