I've gone for a 3-0 home win on a predictor I'm involved with. I think this is just a game we need to write off really and go again on Saturday with a more winnable fixture at home. It could look quite bleak after tonight's game unfortunately in terms of the table, but I'm not reading too much into it. There are still plenty of games for us to move clear or get dragged under.

Anything we can get out of tonight can only be a bonus, for me. Whether that's an improved performance without the result or actually taking points from this game, it can't be any worse than the weekend, unless it's Fulham bad which I can't see happening.

This is the likely scenario for me.

BTW Nyland was shipped out by them not long after conceding 6 to Norwich in the Carabao Cup.

Given he played in their 3-1 Cup win over Yeovil in January and that 6-0 was in August, "not long after" is stretching it.

He was only ever signed as a #2 there really.

Didn't remember the Yeovil game but those are the only two that he played for them.

What I and probably most others are probably expecting is a spirited performance, in the first half, maybe even make it to half-time at 0-0/0-1

But the moment they go 2-0 up we'll collapse and lose anywhere from 3-0 and beyond.

I suppose with expectations so low, any result will be seen as a massive positive.

Weird how things change - just looking back to the game there last year - the 4-2 defeat - and I’d argue that our first half performance that day was the best half of football we played all season.

Looking at the side that day, it’d be very easy to argue our team on paper for tonight would be stronger and yet we’re a pile of steaming crap atm

Hendo Would be typical Reading to go and get something there tonight after some shambolic performances. Not that I think we will, I just won't be that surprised should we end up with a scrappy 1-0 win.

Watched the excellent podcast interview by the Bournemouth fan, Craig (from Tilehurst - wtf has gone wrong there?) with Michael Sprott, and Michael is going for a 1-0 Reading win, so as a fellow Tilehurst boy who am I to argue with Michael Sprott, not that many people probably do!

Then again that performance epitomised us over the last 18 months. Some talented players who can combine to play some great football at times, just a shame it is not for a full 90 minutes, and sometimes not even for 45 minutes!

Yes maybe. Though seem to recall we actually played ok second half except for the 10 mins when we conceded the 2 goals to equalise (goal 3 was a worldie and 4 a Rafael horror show)

Suppose it prob was similar to pne away - though I can’t recall any other games when we’ve played particularly well recently

Second goal was a really well worked goal, the passing and movement but sadly was an exception to the norm

I believe we’ll get beat by at least 3 goals tonight. We might score one though. The most shameful thing of all for me is in the last year they have only beaten Derby (April 21) and Posh (September 21) by more than 1 goal. They might have beaten Sheff Weds early March 21 but it’s a oxf*rd disgrace if you ask me.

Not even convinced we will actually score, we haven't scored in our last couple and the goals appear to be drying up somewhat since Ince has taken over.

The nil is the least believable part there.

I'm going to be an arse, sorry chap.

He also played 1 league game - a 0-0 draw against Hull.

Was otherwise on the bench for pretty much every game up until the end of Jan (missed 2 due to injury), when they signed Woodman and agreed a mutual contract termination.

Would almost be apt if he starts tonight.

Keeper also made an excellent save from Joao which would have made it 3-3 if I recall.

Anyway tonight - I have literally no expectation of anything more than a comfortable defeat but Bournemouth are capable of slippling up unexpectedly. Also, we tend to do fairly well playing teams midweek who start with B. It's also my mate's birthday and we have a very good record in games played on his birthday.

So 2-0 defeat - it'll be 0-0 after 70 minutes, we'll then hit the post before conceding from a corner after 82 mins. We'll put pressure on them and look like equalising before conceding a breakaway second in the 93rd min.

And keeps a clean sheet in a 1-0 victory. But that's going some.

Bournemouth team news - as well as Philip Billing, Adam Smith is also suspended. Kieffer Moore, Robbie Brady and Junior Stanislas are all injured.

Forgot all about Moore there. Basically been injured since the moment they spent relatively big money on him
