Basically just assuming we won’t have anyone new for Brum and possibly not for the first 5-6 games

Not that bothered tbh. Can’t see us threatening the promotion spots but we should have enough to be mid table as it is, and always nice to see young players come through

But weird having a pre season when there is absolutely no transfer activity though, barely even rumours

Reading are, reportedly, the only club in the 92 to not yet have signed anybody in this transfer window. They're in good company though as Liverpool's only acquisition so far is that Academy kid from Chelsea.

Whether that suddenly changes after the new owners are confirmed next week remains to be seen :?

This is how I see it. 25/26 is the year to go for promotion with the right additions. But we've got too much to be in a relegation scrap this year.

I do wonder if that's not a bad thing.

There are a number of positions we do need reinforcements, but it should mean we've got a more settled squad and we should keep improving as younger players are offered game time they may not have otherwise received.

I still think we're probably four players away from seriously challenging for the play-offs, but I'd still think we've got an outside chance of this season. Realistically, a comfortable mid-table finish (with the takeover being completed) is a good season and anything better than that is a bonus.

Ryan suffered an ACL against Woking apparently. Very poor news for him when on the verge of the first team squad you’d think

Real shame for him, think he would have definitely started at Colchester in the league cup to see him action. Hopefully, its a realtively clean injury and it heals quickly enough.

yids out for a minimum of 8 weeks

"Andy was out at the last part of last season," boss Ruben Selles confirmed to the media on Saturday. "We gave time for the knee to settle and the different procedures the doctors did with him didn’t work and now we need to wait another six to eight weeks to see if he can come back on time. Otherwise, we need to find different solutions. There is no guarantee that after eight weeks he will be back with us."

Can anyone remember a single time where we've publicly said we're giving time for an injury "to settle" and that player hasn't been out for even longer?

Moore's shoulder, Joao's shoulder, Glen Little's hamstring. All come to mind as injuries that were made worse without surgery because we were waiting to see what would happen when avoiding surgery.

It's nice to see that the Chronic is still capable of working out that 8 weeks from the end of July takes you to October.

Ruben Selles gives #ReadingFC injury update:

• Tivonge Rushesha has a small problem with his abductor muscle and won't be available for Hull.

• Jay Senga's injury should only be 24 to 48 hours.

Good for Senga.

We could really use a RB. I don't much fancy Rushesha. I hope Selles goes for something other than wasting Craig there against Hull as he certainly shouldn't be starting RB v Brum.

It's got to be Mbengue (which really weakens the centre imo) or maybe Holzman?

I think Rushesha played RB when he was with Swansea so should be capable i guess and there must be something about him to be offered a new contract. Holzman seems to have been around a while now and is highly rated and looked pretty decent last night when he came on so both must be options.
For me Mbengue has nailed down that CB position with Bindon and is getting better and better and some of his tackling is a joy to behold :D

Yeah, I now Rushesha plays there, but he just hasn't impressed imo.

One to watch imo is 18 year old Boyd Beacroft who captained the U18’s last season but also played for the U 21’s. Primarily a centre back he played right full back last Saturday against Didcot and impressed- definitely has a future.

“Yesterday in training he felt something in his back, and he went inside. It’s no problem.”
