The first game I ever went to was a midweek game and it felt like Christmas under the lights in the dark, so yes I'm happy.

If it means cutting out of work early - then yes i'm happy! The only issue i now have is managing my service leave to get to the games i wish. Sadly this season i will now have to be more prudent. The only benefit of the prem was the very rare mid-week games.

I only get one in four Saturdays off. Charlton away I was in Scotland, Watford I have agreed to work. Preston and Sheffield Utd I should be able to make. But weekday games are much easier for me, I am able to make Wolves and Burnley, though unfortunately not Sheffield Wed.

I love midweek games main for the memories of great wins under the lights (both at EP and the MS). Even the traffic doesn't bother me too much as I've got a couple of shortcuts I can take if the traffic is snarled.

Midweek away games are also a great laugh, which is why I'm somewhat disappointed that our midweek away fixture list this season is:

Wolves
Burnley
Cardiff
Doncaster
Sheffield Weds

The only one that is logistically do-able due to work commitments is Cardiff - well, Wolves too but I refuse to go back there. Would have preferred other three on a Saturday and had 3 closer - i.e. within 1.5 hours trip - fixtures midweek.

On the back of the latter comment - are there no "provisions" made in the fixture list to cut down midweek travel in the same way that the fixtures on Boxing Day are compiled with short journeys involved?

As I live in the North - those midweek games sound very tempting...

Yes and no. 'Yes', because like most other people I love games played 'under the lights'. In fact, I've always wished that all weekend games were moved to the evenings early and late season (I appreciate that during the worst winter months, the warmer part of the day is preferable).

'No', because we live south of Basingstoke and it's a pig to get out of work and to the match on time. The Mad Stad is the worst situated stadium in the country, bar none.

Midweek games are great, good excuse to get beer'd up, also as previously mentioned, good chance to put Saturdays defeat behind us. Unless we lose then I'll argue we needed time to rest. Sort of expect to beat Wednesday so could be on a big fall tomorrow night.

As long as we win I don't care.

If we lose then it's a s**t drive home, straight to bed when I get in otherwise I wont get up in the morning and I'll wake up in the same s**t mood I went to sleep with.

In fact I'll be in THAT s**t mood if Shane Phucking Lond starts again tomorrow night.

Best midweek game ever = Simod Cup Semi Final v Coventry. Delayed Kick off, terraces packed solid (home and away ends) ET & Pens, we win, Gilkesy takes us to Wemberlee. Happy Days.

At the Madejski, i still think you will be hard pushed to beat the Wigan Play off match.

The Bolton home game in 1995 was pretty good as well...

Agreed, and also the rush to get there after work, and hurried pre-game drinking comes as close as a home game can get to the best bits of going to away games.

Actually thats a point. My first game was a midweek game too, and both the match itself (3-0 win over Burnley in the first season in the Championship) and the atmosphere were better than a lot of other matches i went to in the Championship.

I don't like Tuesday night games at the moment because I can't go to them. Which is a pain.
