Barry the bird boggler
Woodcote Royal The nightmare of the last 2 seasons is finally over.

Yep, now we can get started on the nightmare of the next 2 seasons....

Not necessarily.

Those who have more time for the under achieving manager who, presided over an avoidable relegation and couldn't get HIS team to win any of it's last nine home games despite the huge advantage that parachute payments should have provided, can always keep their heads up his backside as he moves to another club.

Meanwhile, I hope our long suffering Chairman and his board can attract a new manager who still possesses the ability to produce a successful Championship team on limited resources.................someone like Owen Coyle, whose small squad produced 2 cup campaigns and beat us over 2 legs thanks to the kind of quality not produced by Coppell's former Premiership squad in months.

OOH! Two world class strikes and a penalty the difference when we battered them over 150 minutes of the two legs. Unfortunately our form showed, but it's the players who failed to take the chances they made. Not Coppell.

Considering we 'battered' them we didn't exactly create many chances did we?

I can only think of two in the home game (the Long/Duberry chance and then the ball across the face of the goal that Church didn't get to) and one in the away game (Bikey's header and the follow up to it).

If it was a freak result caused by poor finishing or inspired goalkeeping and bucked a trend of us scoring hatfuls at home for the last couple of months then I think you might have a point IR. AS it is we were awful for the best part of 3 crucial months when we should've tied up promotion with relative ease.

Ulimtately the buck stops with the manager for our continued poor form for 3-5 months.

To the chances in the away leg add Tabb's fantastic shot, Marek's follow up and Kebe's idiocy when he could have squared it to Kitson.

Fair enough, that's two more chances for the away leg.

I think we were the better side for ling spells of the away leg, and for most of the first half at home, but to say we battered them when the keepers had to make just a few proper saves is stretching it a bit.

We battered them by out playing them and keeping it mostly in their half. Yes we failed to create enough clear chances or score, but that doesn't mean that for 3/4 of the semi final we weren't clearly the better team.

Our form contributed to our lack of goals and clear chances, but there were half a dozen or more good shots over the two legs, plenty of crosses well defended or zipping through with no one reaching them and a fair few other chances like Kebe's abomination for Kitson.

Compared to Burnley who had a couple of half hearted long shots, two wonder goals and a penalty.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying we deserved to win and were robbed. We didn't take our chances and got punished. Burnley had those little extra touches of class when it mattered. But we did out perform them in every respect other than actually scoring.
