Good luck Khalifa. I will always remember that fantastic performance against Man Unt and the whole crowd shouting Cisse, Cisse. Unfortunately that and the Bristol City goal turned out to be the highlights of his RFC career.

Good business for us, nowhere near the first team and the highlight of his Reading career was the goal against city too. IF the rumours of 500k are true, what a steal.

Coppellol - goes in search of a new start, pitches up at another club and proves he's not learnt from his mistakes by signing the same mediocre players.

Do give it a rest - Coppell left over 12 months ago now!

I for one am really looking forward to this season more than any season since the first PL season. Let us concentrate on us not on SC. Come On URZZZZZZZ.

TBF Cisse is likely to be a decent player for them as they look to sit in midtable and worry the edges of the play offs until they can build a team for a big push over a couple of seasons.

Coppell will bring in a few old favourites to get set and then start slowly building the team as he did with us. Coppell's difficulty is in taking the step beyond the first successful team he builds and consolidating at a level above where he starts. Not building a good side.

Good business for our club, certainly, and probably not a bad signing for Bristol city. If we can ship out Cummings and Mooney, even if it is only for season-long loans, then there really isn't much dead wood at the club at all. Top summer so far.

I'd keep Cummings for the cover tbh. And he did come into the team in poor circumstances. 'Greed on Mooney, although McDermott seems to have wanted him back last season.

I wonder what formation we'll start in with McDermott working from a full pre-season...

Can't really agree that it has been a top summer so far.
Bertrand (one of our better players last season) has gone and replaced by Scunthorpe's left back who looked good going forward last season but suspect defensively.
Griff has signed which is a good thing but probably only for a couple of years.
Cisse and Marek have gone but it looks as though the money for them will go towards the black hole.
We have one very good centre-back,one not very good (Pearce)and another ageing one who seems to be getting more and more injuries.
We still have Rasiak,a very injury-prone Hunt and two who will probably not make it in HRK and Henry with the jury out on Antonio and the little quick black striker whose name escapes me.

I agree that we have had numbers but to be a top summer as you call it I would like to see a new target striker and another centre-back before delighting in two players that we could never get the best from moving on.
I think it is right for them to move on and indeed we have numbers in midfield in Jem,Tabb,Howard and Bryn with Gylfi now regarded as almost a second striker.
I have yet to be totally convinced, like a lot of others,by Howard and Bryn is knocking on so in my eyes we are not blessed with promotion-capable midfielders.
I see that Palace are interested in Andy Dorman of St Mirren,a player I suggested to the club 2 years ago,and I feel that a passing player like him or Koumas would be a valuable addition to the midfield area.

I would be very disappointed if the club goes only with what we currently have got, that is if we are making a serious stab at promotion rather than just survival.

Cummings is sadly well out of his depth at this level and had a shocker last season. I hope never to see him in a Reading shirt again. Adequate cover in this position. He has to go.

Brian McDermott has said that every player starts with a clean sheet, so it is up to the players like Cummings to improve and impress.

Byebye Cisse some good performances but you couldn't really control a ball well enough. I expect you will play excellently against us this season though...

Do you really think we paid him that much ?

I'd be amazed if true, but I don't know what the current going rate for Championship reserve team players is....

Good luck to you Cisse. I will always remember that cracker against Bristol City 2 seasons and you will always will be in the team of 09/10 that defied all odds to defeat Liverpool in the FA Cup.

He wasn't signed as a championship reserve team player, so I doubt that is relevant. I could see £10k quite easily as a Prem squad player who'd taken a pay cut but been intended as a first teamer at our level.

Cisse came from a lower mid table team in a league were outside the big 3 there isn't a great deal of money.

Tbh I'd be suprised if he was on more than £10k in the Prem, add to that the 40% drop in wages. £4 - £6k sounds about right to me.

He's on £5k at City

in all honesty I tried to like Cisse - he just didn't do what we needed.

He could hit the ball nicely and scored a few goals. But he had no ball control, and whilst he'd always make the tackle he'd just never come away with ball. The game always seemed to happen around him.

Yep, he never learns from his mistakes.

He came to reading and bought up old favourites of his like Ingimarsson, Hunt and Sonko, and look where that got him.

Coppell's probably got a cunning plan to convert him to a centre half, IMHO that's where he plays better. I really don't think he's got the all round game for a midfielder.
