First half was dull. Didn't stay for the second half. Overall - Rodgers out.

^ This, although I stayed for the second half which was better and sometimes verged on being entertaining. Sickening scenes though as we go 2-1 up against a League Two side in a pre-season friendly and hundreds of the droll drones who follow RFC started up that 'EA-SAY' seal-clap crud abandoned by all the other 91 clubs many years ago. If you're going to act like a seal you deserve to be clubbed.

I just sat there with a sour look on my face, occasionally showing a glint of interest and even nodded off for a while. All about the Haribo Starmix.

Only have to stay on the line 'til the balls kicked I thought.

That is of course correct. But you don't have time to step 2 yards forward and dive full length to the right between the time a striker hits the ball at 50 mph from 18 yards away and it reaching you.

Dunno, I've seen keepers bounce quite far forward and then dive in quite a short space of time.

Reading were turgid and terrible in the first half but then in the second looked like a team that could be OK this season. Certainly Wycombe barely got a kick of the ball in the second period.

McAnuff was MotM, Taylor, Antonio and Canoe looked really good when they came on.

Williams was largely anonymous though and we need a specialist centre half from somewhere.

The rest were OK.

If a keeper saves a penalty, isn't more a case of a penalty SAVE, rather than a penalty miss? Surely a penalty is a proper miss when you fire it wide or over the top of the bar or something. Just makes Sig sound like he was useless, when, in fact, the keeper must have been quite good? I know, that technically it's a "miss" as it wasn't scored. But when the boot is on the other foot, we all praise our keeper for SAVING a penalty, rather than just say the other bloke "missed". Anyway, drunken posting by Maguire ftl.

I know you can't base much on our performance in friendlies but they're not exactly inspiring me with confidence for the start of the season. May have to revise my expectations. :(

A well taken penalty should be virtually impossible to save because you put it hard where the keeper can't get to it quick enough or well enough to save. In my experience the majority of penalty saves are where the kick is placed within reach of the keeper and at a comfortable height.

Doesn't mean the 'keeper hasn't done very well, but players are expected to score.

You can't make any sort of assumptions based on pre-season. In our 106 season we lost to Farnborough.

And if it makes you feel better, Bristol City lost 3-0 to Aldershot yesterday....so it could be worse.
