My opinion - Kitson=mug if he joins stoke.
Reason -Stoke are a one year wonder (as for our two  ) and shirley they'll be straight back down playing shite football in a years time.
You must question kits if he's going there for another year in the prem when we are better equiped for the prem?!

I'd rather give them Lita, Doyle and Long for 2m and keep Kitson.

If that 2M/2M bid is accurate then I can only surmise that, for whatever reason, DK is one of those wanted out of the door fast.

Kitson is no mug

he will do what's best for him

long term if we go straight back up it will be at Reading

Stoke are fuct and I can't wait to see them get spanked on Motd everyweek

I really think this is just so much crap. £4m for Kitson I could just about live with, but only just, but £2m +£2m based on Stoke's performances in the PL, when it seems highly likely they will pick up bugger all points, seems completely out of the question.

Relax - this deal isn't going to happen. (Neck out, but what the fcuk eh?)

OK. If you and the OS say he's still going to play on Saturday, I'll sleep easy for one more night.

Kits needs his head testing if he goes to Stoke. Shit team, shit manager, shit prospects for next season, shithole.

Come on Kits, stay with Reading you know it makes sense. This time next year Stoke will be relegated with about 15 points, you'd have scored about 5 goals all season and could well be passing Reading going in the other direction. Think about it.

If this goes through then the obvious like for like replacement who is available would be Kris Boyd from Rangers.

Kitson goes then good luck to him, Not bothered as long as he is suitably replaced.

Platypuss I'd like to see that quote - the articles I have seen refer to bids needing to match "the Club's" valuations of players.

Naurally Coppell will have input, but there is no way the market valuation of a player will be something done by any single individual.

Sorry that doesn't fit your one-eyed view of that ails RFC.

Not often I disagree but I think you're wrong here Platypuss.

Coppell will have the final say on what bids we accepts for players unless the offer is too good that the board dictate he sells and take the decision out of his hands. £2m+extra's for Kiton would not constitute an offer we couldn't refuse.

I think everything that's come out of the club illudes to the fact that Coppell has the final say on any player movements and the the details are worked out by Hammond.

Platypuss If that 2M/2M bid is accurate then I can only surmise that, for whatever reason, DK is one of those wanted out of the door fast.

I think that's a lot closer to the truth, but still, a basic £2m for a player of Kitson's ability is a steal for Stoke.

Isn't Boyd a bit more of a traditional big man who likes to goal hang a bit?

I didn't think he's the intelligent forward capable of linking up midfield and attack like Kitson is.

At least he is available as he's apparently being offered to a Cardiff. Another Jock forward who's name has been doing the rounds a bit is Hib's Steven Fletcher. He'll more than likely be out of our buying power though.

If this £2 million plus £2million stuff is true, it's disgraceful - Stoke know they're on to a winner, they get him for £2 million, knowing they'll never have to pay us the rest and if they go down, they sell him for at least £2 million again or more. And they wear red stripes - it'll clash awfully with his hair.

Unless the deal is that if they go down they have to pay us extra !

If this is true then I'd like to know what the extra £2m is made up of. I would hope and expect that the clauses there are patently acheivable.

I would hope they are more based on Kitson playing rather than just Stoke's performances.

Southbank Old Boy
Vision This is the same Kitson that gor quite irate a few years back when Reading fans dished out a bit of gingerism right?

Players couldn't care less about the stick they take from a clubs fans if the club is then going to fill their pockets with more than their old club. If anything, I can imagine a player liking the fact that the fans are vocal and passionate enough to make some noise and create an atmosphere.

Again as mentioned (sarcastically) a few posts earlier

I was talking about the abuse Reading fans gave him....is that mentioned earlier?

Am I losing the ability to read?[/quote]

No its just exactly the point i was making (a few posts earlier  ) with the "Man Of PrincipLOLe" remark.

Actually now i'm not convinced i made that post at all.

As for what would constitute a good price for Kitson as has been mentioned i've felt that he's the player you'd least like to have around the place if he wants to be elsewhere. If he goes for what would appear to be a lower price then i guess that will be why.

Fair enough i suppose but from a personal point of view Kitson & Little are the 2 players i've enjoyed watching the most over the last few seasons.

I don't know which one I'd like to leave least - Kitson or Doyle...

However we cannot let go of both. That would be suicide.

It's in the Guardian now:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2008 ... .stokecity

Stoke City are expected to announce within the next 48 hours that Dave Kitson has agreed to join the newly promoted Premier League club for about £3m. It is understood that Kitson's representatives have held talks with Stoke after Reading sanctioned the striker's departure.

The 28-year-old, who had also been a target for Birmingham City, scored 60 goals during his 4½ years with Reading, including 10 in the Premier League last season. Birmingham have instead signed Marcus Bent on a three-year contract from Charlton Athletic in a deal that could be worth more than £1m.

Uh-oh.

At least we can expect a new signing at some point to replace him!

Seems they think it's a different deal to the one the Mail are aware of !

Paper talk is just that until these things are on official sites.

It doesn;t mean he won;t be moving but there are endless stories in the papers about 'done deals' that never happen. Harper was supposed to have been a Boro player a week ago, and Hunt and Doyle were Sunderland players before that !
