Hoop Blah I'm sure I've seen him take one or two for us,

He has hit the crossbar quite recently from one......

Snowball You can't buy that, and it's hard to put a value on it. But what we know is we were down 1-3 at half-time
and a professional says Harte influenced the mentality of the team, and in the second half, that same
Mr Harte played a blinder of a ball to Long that so easily could've been a goal, and it was Harte who gave
us a life-line in the first half with his "anybody could've scored it, ha-ha" goal.

Harte's biggest contribution was rolling around as if he'd been shot for Holt's red card.

I'll take your word for it and ignore the actual, real, professional player's opinion

Your average, which you stated as statistically correct, is horribly wrong.

I've no idea how many we had against Norwich as I know my point has been proven. I can't think of at least one off the top of my head though.

I STATED that "my average" was statistically correct? Where, exactly?

So let me see, we had 1 v Cardiff, you can think of ONE v Norwich. Hmmmm. Our opps in one game had 1, in another 2

1-1-1-2-5-5, say... 2.5? what if the next few are 0-1-2s?

You think maybe we should check ten games and see how the average pans out?

Don't get me wrong mate, I'm sure he said his piece in the changing rooms, but the game changer was the red card - in which Harte played a big part.

Did you expect someone to come out in media and congratulate Harte on his playacting?

Hoop, listen carefully.

Howard MIGHT be good at free-kicks. BUT WE HAVE NO EVIDENCE OF IT.

Harte IS good at free-kicks. WE DO HAVE EVIDENCE

Now, let's say for example, that McDermott was worried about Harte as a defender and wanted to bring in Armstrong.

Do you not think he would have had his players taking free-kicks to see how good they were at it?

You are talking about a player who MIGHT BE good at free-kicks but hasn't scored a single one in 4.33 seasons
and you're weighing that up against a guy who in 1.33 seasons has scored 22 goals, many of them frees.

Do you not detect just a LEETLE bit of wishful thinking in that?

And add to that the fact that many are citing Howard as totally gash, the Howard who gae away the penalty
at QPR, who gave away the dumb free-kick for Norwich's 3rd goal and then deserted the wall to help them score
and was dragged off to jeers?

I quite like Howard, but that's who you are talking about using because he MIGHT be able to score free-kicks.

So Harte "got an opponent sent of", energised the team at half time AND scored a goal.

Seems he was pretty important then

I believe Harte was genuinely hurt.

The ex-professional footballer commentating thought the same.

I've asked, does Harte have a reputation for that kind of cheating. Nobody has said he has that reputation?

He got "toe-poked" on his shin, you know the bit where the shin pad is. Go and watch the replay again. There is no way he was in THAT MUCH pain.

He knew what he was doing and I'm quite certain he just did it for the team. So yes he was vital in us coming back in that match, but not for the right reasons.

You quest for seeing the best in all our players is admirable, but stop being so naive (and for someone of your age that is impressive).

Keep your knickers on old man!

I'm suggesting that Howard or others might be able to do a decent job on the free kicks but not as good as Harte. I've not said he'll be the next free kick god!!!

All along my question has been whether or not Harte's weaknesses are countered by the few opportunities to score that arise from a direct free kick around the box.

Personally I'm not sure they do.

That is your OPINION with which I disagree.

We simply don't KNOW the truth, and you malign a man with no previous reputation (as far as I know) of being a cheat.

Nope. I KNOW some players cheat. I hate cheating and if I REALLY thought Harte had
cheated I would be pissed off. I ask again, does anyone have previous evidence
of Harte being know as a cheat? Also didn't Gooding think it was a nasty injury (but not a red?)

Did the commentators say "He's making a meal of it"?

As usual, the "geniuses" on this list make a decision, and that's IT. If it was Ronaldo or any other know diver, fine, but Harte ISN'T that.

Do you really think Harte gets a teensy-weensy toe-poke and thinks,

"I know I'll roll over and the ref WON'T KNOW it was a teensy toe-poke..."

I mean if it WAS innocuous, wouldn't Harte know it would be SEEN as innocuous?

I did one very quick google for Ian Harte Dive and came up with that plus a few more comments about him and Tom Daley.

I'm not going to look passed the first few search results, I've already proven that he's got a history, and you specifically said "a man with no previous reputation (as far as I know) of being a cheat."

Just pointing out that you were, unsurprisingly talking out of your arse.

Yet again someone provides the evidence that was asked for and again it is devalued because it doesn't match his argument. This time it is devalued because it was made "by the biggest whinger on the planet".

He's got form in trying to get players sent off I've discovered. Waved an imaginary card at the ref when that young defender was sent off for a second yellow a while ago. ... was it Ipswich?

I think it's difficult to argue with certainty he wasn't hurt. But he certainly made no effort to tell the ref it wasn't a malicious tackle. I hate thinking he was deliberately feigning injury because I find it contemptible, but I'm coming round to it being a possibility sadly.

Does anyone get the feeling snowball has a massive superiority complex? For little reason from what I can see. There are certainly a lot of well educated and or intelligent people posting on HNA.

It's not "the Reading Way", is it? Dear Steve Coppell would be turning in his grave (if he was dead).

Shall we also adopt the Corinthian ideal of not taking any penalties we're awarded? (I know what Shane Long's answer to that would be)

I hardly think one single quote from Fergy, one quote in his career
until you show me different counts as conclusive evidence.

I don't recall, when he arrived at RFC anyone talking about his "rep".
