(.)Boobies(.) Paul Hart to be offered the QPR job.___ That's one less to worry about.

THe Pompey job was a poisoned chalice for anyone in the summer but Paul Hart is probably the only one who has come out of it all the better. BEfore his stint at Pompey he was a football forgotten man, despite some of the results there was a lot of respect towards him, and in leaving with dignity he's back in the frame for jobs. I quite like Paul Hart, don't think it would be a bad appointment for QPR at all. They need to back him though and stick with him. Which i doubt they will.

Interesting that people are questioning Fergie Jnr's level of experience!? As previously mentioned, he took a club with virtually no budget to consecutive promotions! Rodgers' only had a few months at Watford, and some time at Chelsea, which hardly qualified him to work with the current crop of sh* that we have for a first team squad. Fergie Jnr has achieved so much with a dump squad of players, all whilst having the 'appy chappie Barry Fry looking over his shoulder at all times. Our squad would be a vast improvement on what he had at Posh, and i'd personally be delighted if he took over.

Anyone remember the Posh away game? We were coasting at 2 nil, before Fergie Jnr made some astute substitutions to complete turn the game, whilst our mug of a former manager sat on the sidelines scratching his arse. People seem to think that the Championship is a giant leap for lower league managers, which it isn't. the Premier league most certainly would be. Anyone that's ever acheived 2 consecutive promotions has to be a quality manager IMO

Ferguson didn't leave Pboro for footballing reasons. You don't sack a manager when you've won back to back promotions, then have a dodgy 10 games at a level you haven't been at for donkeys years, there was clearly more to it. I think their chairman was still annoyed thatFerguson wanted to talk to Reading and felt his heart wasn't in it.

He would be a stand out candidate, of the others Curbs but I think he would cost a lot of money, there are a few other names on there that might do a good job but it's a tough one for the board.I am almost certain this time we won't take a manager from another club, I also get the feeling with the timing of Rodgers sacking that they really want to get it done soon. The new man needs December to assess his squad and January to buy/sell players.

I'd probably be happy with any of those apart from hoddle

I'd be happy with any of the others to be honest.

Trouble is there isn't much of December left.

A would like to see Curbs come in but I think his wages and the transfer budget he would ask for would cost too much money.

Fergie Jnr would be a good appointment and would fit in well with the club's ethos, I think.

Wouldn't be opposed to Steve Coppell coming back either, with all of the big egos gone from the club now.

If they get him after Bristol City, there is still 2 games + Liverpool in the cup early Jan.

That would still be 3 games to 'have a look'. Still two days before Bristol, unlikely i know but if they have an idea of who they want then it might not take them long.

Curbs applied in the summer

I think we now need to go with someone who has a proven track record.
We wanted Ferguson in the summer, and he wanted to come, and now we don't have to pay the sompensation i'm pretty sure it could be him

'greed with all of this. i expect annoynace on the part of the Posh board was the only reason they got rid. Maybe fergie got the hump as Bazza wanted to bring back big Ron to 'elp 'im 'owt!

I'd also be delighted with Curbs, and livid if we got Sanchez

You're right that Ferguson didn't leave Peterborough for footballing reasons.

I think this is very likely indeed. As said, he's the stand out candidtate. We wanted him in the summer, he wanted to come, but P'Boro said no. Now he's available, and we don't want to pay out in compensation if we can help it. It fits perfectly.

It'll be Parky one day, but not now. I'd be astonished if JM was thinking of poaching from another club under present circumstances.
Sanchez? Let's not be silly.
I'd love to get Coppel back - as someone posted, he'd love the challenge of a new team and the players would respond. He's gone back to Palace before, so....?
However Coppel could command hefty wages as would Curbishley and Southgate.

So. Ferguson I reckon.

I find that list to be made up largely of managers who wouldn't be interested in the Reading job, with the remainder most unattractive options. For that reason I haven't voted but would suggest Ian Dowie as the man who fulfills all the requirements, and is available right now.
How stupid would Parkinson have to be to leave The Valley, where he has Charlton on course for automatic promotion, to take over at Reading? Even more stupid than poor Rodgers, who has been taught a very harsh lesson in 2009. A man must be very careful plotting his managerial career. A player can always recover from a bad move but for managers the wrong choice can prove to be the end.

I want Curbishley

I expect Ferguson

Both will be linked, along with McDermott, Gibbs, Coppell, Sanchez, Southgate, Taylor, Tisdale, Hart, Parkinson, and perhaps Dellor & Gooding for good measure!

Whoever we appoint, it is critical we all get behind him and the players. The next month or so is critical for the future of this club, and we can't do it divided.

A huge performance from us fans at Brizzle on Saturday will go a long way.
