Victor Meldrew So Kebe had a period when people booed him and he eventually came good
Long had a few boos and (fingers crossed it's not temporary again) has come good.
Booing obviously works so who next?

Howard:we're all thinking it anyway!

I actually quite like Howard. Ok he has his bad games but he gives us something else in the middle of park and has good creativity.

Snowball Is it not remarkable that a player who has had countless threads about him being "useless"
and another recent one saying Time to Go (followed by this one) is now being speculated
about as a transfer target for bigger clubs?

Even the people who criticise him hope he proves Brian and you right. His name is very apt, because we all Long for him to do well.

Sticking with a player when they're out of form or just not yet good enough is great to a point. At some point it's likely to come off if they are anywhere near good enough because all players should hit a rich vein of form at some point.

The art of management is to try and do the best for the team and the individuals to get the best results over the whole season(s). Sometimes that means leaving a good player out because he's out of form and sometimes it means replacing them because they just need that change to kick on or because they aren't good enough.

I still maintain sticking with Long, and not having good enough options within the squad to replace him, has cost us at times this season and in such a tight league as this that could prove to bite us in the arse come May.

Name 1 game where Brian Howard has been the matchwinner for Reading.

The only game where he even comes close is Doncaster away last season, but that wasn't a 1 man matchwinning performance it was a team performance.

Right, so you've established 1 game in his season and a half with us...and that's sufficient grounds to call him a "match winner"?

On his day yes! like most players can be.Howard hasnt been totally shit.Hes had good games and hes had bad games(i agree the bad outweigh the good hence why we could get someone better in)Im not one for getting on the players backs and think while they are wearing the reading shirt they should be supported.

Tony Rougier had the odd good game but I wouldn't describe him as a matchwinner.

I know what you are saying but any player on the pitch can put in a matchwinning performance. Its about consistancy though and we all know that brian howard lacks that.Could he come good? yes i think so.Will he come good? diffrent story maybe and only time will tell if hes here past next summer

Does he not look, quite simply, FAT?

He looks like he doesn't care any more.

I said this to Matt Mills in Croatia on pre-season and he said that Brian Howard has got the weirdest body shape he's ever seen
