Still can't get over the inclusion of Parky in a best player list....

Even more of a surprise is that you've not got Little in the 2000's list. He was the added extra in the 106 team that really set us apart. I'd say Shorey is hard done by as well. He won an England cap whilst playing for Reading!!!

As i wasnt knocking about in the 70's 80's and barely in the 90's i feel it would be stupid to post how good robin friday was because i wasnt born. So as a supporter for the last 15 years i would have to say the best four players have been.

Steve Sidwell
Adie Williams
Kevin Doyle
Jamie Cureton

This new forward could be in there too if he continues his ratio of 0 goals in 50 games :/

Svlad Cjelli Tricky one to answer when you ask for "best", because position comes into play - I can't judge between Shaka and Simon Osborne, for instance.

how about simon osborn? why do some many people get his surname wrong?

In fact, he actually won 2 caps while a Reading player - against Brazil and then against Germany - I was fortunate to be at Wembley on both occasions. Strange that his international career faded after he left Reading and he's never even been in an England squad since.

I started watching in the 80s so I don't feel qualified to judge the 70s. I haven't included anyone who's term of service was less than 3 yrs (e.g. Gylfi, Osbourn).

80s Michael Gilkes - Senior and Hicks were both huge players ( ) but Gilkes is my all time favourite due to the electricity at Elm Park whenever he got the ball. No matter where he was on the pitch or how many opponents surrounded him (or how poorly his form was) the roar went up, "Gilkesy, go on Gilkesy".

90s Adie Willilams - the foundation on which we nearly acheived back to back promotions.

00s Nicky Shorey - best left back outside the top flight, imo, for most of his time with us.

For those who care.

I moved the goalposts in the end to cater for another 4 players

My final decision (based on Player of the season awards and my preferences)

1970's

Robin Friday (2 awards)
Steve Death (4 awards)

1980's
Trevor Senior (top goalscorer - 1 award))
Steve Wood (2 awards)

1990's
Phil Parkinson (2 awards)
Mick Gooding ( 3 awards)

2000's
Graeme Murty (2 awards)
Kevin Doyle (1 award)

Thanks to all who contributed.
