andrew1957 On a different note Harte looked a spent force at the start of the 2011/12 season and again at the start of this season.

However, both years he has got himself incredibly fit and has ended up playing a huge part in our season. You have to hand it to him for determination and his quality does show through.

And I don't care too much what his views are about the RoI manager.

^^thisd

hats of to th ebloke.

written him off two years in a row now, and he just keeps coming back and getting better

Victor Meldrew What an arrogant, disrespectful cnut Ian Harte is.
A 35 year old who has taken the odd decent free-kick and has a few caps for one of the minnows of world football calls a man a clown who :-
Played for a top Italian club,Milan
Played for a top national side,Italy
Has won 3 EUFA cups as a manager
Is one of the very few managers to win league titles in 4 different countries.
Has done a fair job managing a country with only some very moderate footballlers

I would suggest Ian that you have a chat with Brian about respect and decency that Brian has spades of and you have none.
As the slowest full-back in the Premier League count yourself lucky that you get a game for Reading let alone an international game at 35 years of age.
Clown?
You're the clown m8.

Just because Trapatoni used to be a good player (40 yars ago?) and because he USED to be a decent manager, Harte is wrong?
He hasn't taken Ireland forward has he? Harte has never been blessed with pace, but he is better than Ward.

It appears you may be the clown!

Just because you have never managed a top European nor played for a top Italian club doesn't mean that you and Harte haven't got a f*****g clue but as a poster on a football website I would suggest that your opinion isn't worth much.
When was the last time that you,any posters on here or big-head Harte managed an International football team?
You remain the clown and are as arrogant as our tosser of a left-back.

Ian Harte is class. It would be ace if he was quicker, but his quality more than makes up for it.

Still think it would be worth trying him in a different position if he becomes a liability at LB. His vision is that good.

This is putting it out there but has anyone considered that maybe, just maybe Harte's comments were made in jest? :o #getagrip

+1. He's like a weeble. He wobbles, but he won't fall down. The harder you knock him, the harder he comes back with a performance to hit you in the face and prove you wrong.

Still prefer Shorey mind you, but he's earnt his place.

I'd fancy seeing him in a Pirlo-esque defensive mid position. That would be sweet.

Royal Biscuitman
AthleticoSpizz Reminiscent of Toshack not playing Oster.

Oster (Prem League) was getting overlooked in favour of Div 1&2 players iirc.
Although to be fair, Reading FC have signed quality players from the lower leagues so I wouldn't hold that against a player.
Indeed, but at that time, Wales were really struggling, Oster wan't.

Could be time for Shorey to come back in now he's fit. He's been better all season when available and I've always thought that 1 bad result will act as the perfect excuse to put him back in.

What was Harte doing with that late free kick?

Still, he had a few crap deliveries within the space of a few minutes that emphasised how more off colour than the others he was...

Mariappa wasn't. Federici wasn't. Akpan wasn't. Pearce wasn't. They were all pretty darn good. It was more a case of poor as a team than any particular individuals being especially poor. Apart from Harte's setpieces and Blackman in general.

Well said Ian. I also felt we gave them too much respect today.

Good to see all the STG are back!

I thought that both Harte & Kelly's throw-ins were a let down yesterday. It may be lack of movement or good Stoke marking, but it was all a bit labored. On the point of Kelly, he had one hell of a fight on during that game and i think he did quite well. He's the right-back we needed, Kebe needs to stop over-protecting him and get forward more.

Yet another goal from a Harte set piece. Kind of getting a bit redicluous how many goals weve scored from them in the last 3 seasons. His abscence from the team almost always coincides with a poorer run of results, set pieces are that important.

You can fairly criticise other aspects of his game at this stage of his career, but we have never had another player close to his ability from set pieces. To come out with comments like " no excuse for not clearing the first man" is just silly. This isnt Sunday League football. Just sticking in the mixer and hoping will achieve nothing almost all of the time. Its how many goals his set pieces yield, not how many come to nothing. The best corners are the ones that just clear the 1st man (like yesterday) and it goes without saying that a lot will fail to do so, otherwise you are giving yourself no chance. We score a huge amount of goals from his corners and free kicks and thats why he plays. End of. Without him we would have less points this season and wouldnt even be in this league to start with.
