That'd be a bit of a shock. If we've got someone else lined up, then wouldn't be the end of the world. Would be a bit worried if we were left with Pearce, Ferdinand, Hector and Sweeney.

Unfortunately, whilst are current centre backs are commited, strong defenders they aren't comfortable on the ball and don't have the speed of thought when passing (compare them with Cox's reactions). To play Adkins game successfully you need at least one of the centre back to have ball playing skills.
