Ian Royal
blueroyals Blame for not winning lies solely with Pogrebnyak. Our only striker yet he spent more time outside of the box than in it. When he does get the ball his first instinct was to turn and run into as many defenders as possible. On the rare occasion he could be bothered to lumber into the box he just stood there waiting for the ball to be played onto his forehead. Absolutely useless.

This is why he's got bugger all chance of scoring more than 15 in a season, he just doesn't get himself in enough good positions that he can score from. He's a very talented player, but his actual impact for his position is just so mediocre.

As crazy as it may sound, why don't we try him laying off the front man and have Mackie up there on his own. Just an idea

Or try Appiah alongside him running into the channel. Both ideas have got to be betters than just Pog up top on his own with little support coming through from midfield

Sutekh Well thankfully they've both got less than 6 to play and there's still two crap teams in between us and them (one of which is Fulham).

I know where all but safe but I'll be happy when we're mathematically safe. Thirty odd years of supporting Reading tells me anything is possible.

Have you read "A Season with Verona" by Tim Parks? That season, Verona needed to win their last 4 games and hope an improbable number of results went their way to have any chance of staying up. They did, the other results did and they won a relegation play off against Salernitana to stay up.

I doubt Millwall have the funds to ensure the same sort of 'coincidences' happen for them.....

And i doubt Verona did either. Like Juventus, they were pretty universally disliked across the whole of Italy but that's where the similarities end.

Wigan v Millwall on Tuesday is going to be more important to us than our own foregone conclusion v Bournemouth. Wigan could be out of it or the magic number could be as low as 2.
