I have a bad feeling about this and would cheerfully take a 0-0

A side we've not beaten in 4 matches since our relegation. I'm not overly optimistic about tomorrow either.

Reckon we'll lose 2-1. O'Connor to score against his former club.

On a day that’s so positive, new season, no dai.

It’s a shame we are not hopeful about the result

2pm when we find out who starts and who’s on the bench will be interesting.

With Knibbs gone, no true goal scorer and an untested defence, my confidence for the season ahead has suddenly vanished and I don’t know what to think.

Think positive.

Kelvin has another year under his belt and we're surely looking for goals from him.

Kyerewaa has a knack for scoring in his past.

Lane gets goals. Wing gets goals. Savage is capable of chipping in. Elliott should be too.

We've now got players who can give O'Mahoney the service to see him get chances.

We've got a club to follow. We don’t have to worry about players and staff getting paid, or finishing the season, or points deductions. It's thestart of a new season. Be excited for the new players who'll perform, the surprise youth break throughs, the wins, the fight backs, the fun.

Snowflake Royal Why on Earth would you put Wing at RW and drop our only striker?

The only questions are RW and LB. Will it be Garcia, Camara, Lane or Kyerewaa, and Dorsett or Jacobs? And will Knibbs play.

My guess is this:

....................Pereira
Abrefa, Burns, O'Connor, Dorsett
......................Wing
..............Elliott.....Savage
..Garcia..................................Kelvin
.................O'Mahoney

Stevens
Stickland
Jacobs
Fraser
Kyerewaa
Lane
Okine-Peters

Keep up - Knibbs left yesterday :D

Very hard to predict today. We've had a lot of player turnover and need to gel, but at the same time I believe the same is true for them.

I'll be pessimistic and go for a home win for a side who are an established good L1 team who made their home ground a bit of a fortress last season. But no result would surprise me.

My season expectation is lower mid-table after losing some players over the summer and I'll take anything equal to or better than a draw, as an absolute success today.

My sights are higher. I think our squad is objectively quite strong. We have a mix of proven L1 quality like Pereira, O'Connor, Savage, Lane and Wing mixed with high potential like Burns, Jacob, O'Mahony, Elliott and Ehibhatiomhan. And it sounds like a couple more deals are close. We should definitely be targeting a similar season to last season.

But given squad turnover we may start slowly, so don't panic if we're lower down in October.

That's reasonable. I'll be honest, I thought we would lose far more players than we did. I also haven't factored in our younger players like savage and Garcia stepping up another gear again now they've had a rest and a pre-season. Maybe I'm unfairly harsh.

Rumour has it they are still chasing after the Pompey attackers from last week.
