Prica arrived in the transfer window so is a change in place on 1st Feb.

He scored a goal in his one match before the window, but was a subbed sub (injured) on Saturday.

The point is to watch from after the window has gone. If Prica is long term out them his impact diminishes.

Uke From Platypus' thread we have all these players who have gone to our rivals to play a major part in securing their survival.

So why don't we track just how marvellous they are and how many actually make first team regulars and have a real effect?

Perhaps that will see whether the RTGs are right or the GTGs (Grey tinted glasses). The losers buy a virtual pint for the winners at the NHA virtual bar.

Here's the list... Any more to add?

Fulham -
IN: Brede Hangeland, Leon Andreasen, Eddie Johnson, Jari Litmanen, Erik Nevland. Toni Kallio, Erik Hagen, Paul Stalteri

Boro -
IN: Afonso Alves

Birmingham -
IN: David Murphy, James McFadden, Mauro Zarate

Sunderland -
IN: Jonny Evans, Jean-Yves Mvoto, Phil Bardesley, Rade Prica, Andy Reid

Wigan -
IN: Wilson Palacios, Maynor Figueroa, Erik Edman, Marlon King.

Bolton -
IN: Gretar Steinsson, Tamir Cohen, Matt Taylor , Gary Cahill, Grzegorz Rasiak.

Derby -
IN: Hossam Ghaly, Danny Mills, Laurent Robert, Robbie Savage, Emanuel Villa, Mile Sterjovski, Roy Carroll, Alan Stubbs

Reading -
OUT: John Halls, Alex Pearce, James Henry, Simon Cox.

I f uckin wonder. Lets see.

Fulham - just BEAT Villa

Boro - DREW with Newcastle, away.

Birmingham - LOST (see Sunderland)

Sunderland - BEAT Birmingham

Wigan - BEAT West Ham

Bolton - BEAT Reading

Derby - DREW with Man City

FULHAM ARE 3 POINTS BEHIND US.

Reading FC - WHAT A JOKE.

do it in the cheap....? f uck off. anyone that thought it would be any different ... WAKE UP, no ambition = relegation.

And the RFC management both on and off the pitch are not amateurs, they are very highly paid professionals.

Just thought I'd remind you that.

Now are those highly paid professionals performing well or are they failing?

Excuses do not cover the fact that they have failed to adequately strengthen our squad since last summer. The proof of that fact is in the league table.

They are failing.

They are all rubbish.

Sack SC, sack the board

Hound Mr Mad until he throws it in, or spends the millions of pounds that he's got from Sky, there's almost a never-emptying pot of money there, and we're beating off the players that want to come and play for Reading.

Wake up.

How did all the others teams at the bottom manage it then?

How any teams manage to sign someone?

Actualy why do we even bother? Lets write a letter to FIFA saying

'Dr Mr Blatter, we here at Reading FC don't believe in the transfer window, we also can't seem to find anyone who fits into our wage structure and budget unless they are in the French 2nd division. For these reasons we have decided to scrap transfers at Reading FC. So NO FANKS and cya.

Yeah two can play this stupid childish game of someone coming up with a valid point and the toys going out the pram.

Oohhhhh.

There's too many children on here who believe that when results don't go your way, we should run out and buy millions of pounds worth of players that will make a difference, because when they're playing CM, that's all they do.

Buying players does make a difference providing they're the players that fit with the manager's plan of the team he wishes to build. SC has a plan, and if he can find the player, who fits all the criteria, then we'll sign him.

You make some bang on points, but i disagree with SC buying when the right player comes available.

The right player has to fit first and foremost with the current wage structure, but that is clearly too low to attract the real quality we need not only to compete, but to build on recent successes.

I don't advocate spending 9 million plus 55K a week to attract players, but we need to, and i quote SC - up the ante/go for players RFC wouldn't normally go for.

I think SC has maybe seen the right players, but attracting them here due largely to wages is the main stumbling block, hence why we constantly appear to go for the cheap option.

Don't respond to them then!!!

That wasn't aimed at you personally Ozy, but similarly to you getting annoyed by 'FM managers' if you want!, it annoys me when points are raised (valid ones) and people respond with 'sack coppell, sack everyone etc' no one is saying that apart from SDR, just a really toys and pram moment, like I can't respond to your view with a response so 'sack everyone' that's what it sounds like.

Ozymandias Agree with most of that.

And there is THE problem. The current structure at the club is not condusive to build on our recent success.

I know todays RFC would not be here if it wasn't for JM, but he is now holding the club back.

I hear he wants to sell, so someone else can take us to that next level, BUT if clubs like Derby/QPR can find buyers, no-one will convince me JM hasn't had any interest, it appears he wants more for the club than it's worth.

Uke Not "no comment" - I just haven't been online for a day or two.

I am concerned that our squad doesn't have a plan B given its size, but that's not the point of this thread is it?

Apart from Bolton who else should we track in this thread?

I think my original point was that you can't really measure the impact and contribution of all the signings the other clubs have made because it really depends on what role they're playing within their squads.

I'm glad you accept that our squad doesn't look very well equiped to cover potential unavailbilities, poor form etc. Wouldn't you have like to see the club address that at some point last summer or in January? From reading your posts I'd have said you think it's all pretty rosey in the RFC garden right now.

rfc58 it appears he wants more for the club than it's worth.

Or he is being very selective on who it wants to sell it to.

You could be right, but i am sure his resolve to find the right buyer is/will deminish if that right buyer can't be found, after all, money is money, and if he wants out, then he can sell, claim the new group/punter is the right one, and let someone else have the reigns.

I think the right offer (matching his valuation) is more accurate.

Well after seeing Bolton's new defence first hand, I would happily swap ours for theirs any day of the week. Solid, assured and shut us out of the game almost completely. Bar Gardner obviously as he is probably the worst left back I have ever laid eyes on

I think that goes for any defence in the Premiership, except maybe Derby's, but even that is a close call.

At Foolham Hodgson in January bought in SEVEN new players for about £8 million pounds. One loan, two short term contracts & 4 permanents. Why could we not have done at least some business even on that scale? It's cost them relative peanuts & the side they put out against Villa yesterday was unrecognisable (performance wise) to what they were like under Sanchez. I know they're getting players back from injury as well, but still - I was furious at our lack of January activity watching sides like that sign player after player.

Nobody was asking Reading to break the bank & go stupid, just some decent squad additions to add more options & depth. :x

I thought exactly the same thing watching yesterday's game, the new players they've added give a new buzz to the team/club, plus it makes "un-droppable" players feel vunerable if they don't start performing, things we need here.

If we had make similar efforts to freshen things up but still gone down, 99.9% on here would at least say we gave it a good go, but all Jan brought was "will our better" players leave, and will we sign yet another un-proven/one for the future player, hardly lifts the fans morale.

Perhaps also worth keep track of points earned by clubs since the transfer window shut….

Fulham 3
Bolton 3
Middlesbrough 1
Birmingham 1
Derby 1
Sunderland 0
Reading 0

Naturally, being the doom-monger I am, I would like to point out that one of Sunderland’s new signings scored in their 2-0 win over Birmingham last week, on 29th. But then you have to draw the line somewhere.
