Victor Meldrew I love the analysis of friendlies.
Win and it's great for the confidence and sets players up for the season ahead.
Draw or lose and it's just a game to improve fitness and the result means nothing.

I tend to prefer:

Win and it's pointless playing such weak opposition pre-season.
Draw or lose and we're in for a mediocre season having lost our two best players.

good result
good tour

some positives for all you doom mongers:

despite haaaaaalmstad being a mid table sedish prem team in the middle of their season
we still managed to out fitness them a week and a half before we start ours.

kebe looks a miles better player than he did in his nervy performaces in the prem last season, and looks to have intergrated well.

strikers have all got goals
lita looks very sharp and hungry
noels off the mark
doyle looks to be starting to put his failures of last season behind him

conveys fit again at last

the kids have all done very well-no one looked out of place in the team
karacan looks like he could make an impact this season with luck
pearce looks a future reading club captain

team, looks to be bonding well- a win or draw against villa at the weekend would really set us up for the season

bring it on

Bring on the real thing even if it is only Championship football.

Exactly. They're just training matches - wouldn't pay to watch one anymore than I'd pay to watch them train.

Bring on Forest.

Well I hope your right and the goals against Didcot, H&W and Halmstad prove to be the kickstart he needs. I was a little worried that I'd read things about him looking a little lacklustre and then seeing him missing out a bit through injury.

I'm sure Doyle will come good this season, if he's still here in September, but wasn't sure where you're optimism was coming from.

Cookie I can't find out if Lita was involved (or Long for that matter) but 1 - 3 is a good away win against a team who are in form.

they're definatly not in form, but they are match fit, so thats something i guess

lita and noel are the obvious plus points

according to a guy over on football.co.uk this was the team for yesterday:

Reading: Hahnemann (Andersen 76); Pearce (Rosenior HT), Shorey, Duberry (Ingimarsson HT), Sonko; Cisse (Matejovsky HT), Harper (c) (Karacan 69), Kebe (N Hunt HT), S Hunt (Convey HT); Lita (Henry 69), Long (Doyle HT)

He does a postmatch and a preview thing... its great :P

So the result actually had nothing to do with fitness at all then?

everything

the substitutions were used buy both sides and in both halves we looked the fitter team despite being over a week before the start of our season

spin things as negatively as you like though

that was my opinion

you may have your own.
its fine.

Nothing to do with positivity/negativity, it's with making stupid statements you can't possibly back up.

I'm not so sure they were allowed to fly back for the weekend. I'd imagine that was just a nasty rumour/blatant lie...
