By the way was the last home night game in the league Newcastle in April 2007?

And what was the last away league night game?

Edit - Just done my research - Arsenal home and Chelsea away last season were the last night games in the league. Both soul destroying games showing how we weren't good enough for the prem.

Makes me happy we are in the championship...

Love the atmosphere of a night-time game, especally in winter, but loathe the hassle of getting there and back again. (Have to get up early, drive to Reading, park up for the day, go to work in London, get back to Reading, go to the match, then drive home again afterwards. Makes for a 20-hour day...).

I prefer the atmosphere on many occassions, however coming from London means there are 4 major drawbacks for me:-

1) Have to try and leave work early which is always tricky
2) Have to get a peak return from Pad which is near £30
3) Get home after midnight
4) Have a hangover at work the next day

All in all this has led to me cutting down on my midweek home game excursions, and I will not be there tonight.

From my distant and entirely self-centered perspective, no --not when it conflicts w/Champions League.

What such spells for me is a divided focus and no possibility whatsoever that it'll be on TV.

If it's a non-European nite of a midweek, OTOH, then fine.

Unfortunately for you, RCFC, all of our midweek games this side of Christmas are on CL nights.

Post-Christmas, however, the only midweek game that clashes with the CL is Charlton (H) on 10/03/09.

CL schedule

I drink similar amounts. On a Saturday this is not a problem. On a weekday = hangover at work.

Archie's penalty After mourning another away loss - thought I'd be positive. In three days we get the chance to turn things around against Wednesday at the Madejski. I for one am happy to see the return of more midweek games this year. They mean a team who is beaten doesn't have to ponder their inadequacies all week but can go out and prove their doubters wrong quickly. I think Reading will be really up for it after losing so awfully today.

Of course midweek games produce a better atmosphere as well. There's something more exciting about playing under the lights.

I won't be there on tuesday but I'm sure it will be fun. Who's with me?

Deadlock I don't like Tuesday night games at the moment because I can't go to them. Which is a pain.

Bugger.

Tony Le Mesmer Best midweek game ever = Simod Cup Semi Final v Coventry. Delayed Kick off, terraces packed solid (home and away ends) ET & Pens, we win, Gilkesy takes us to Wemberlee. Happy Days.

My first Reading match! Dad took me to the Spread before the game and let me have my first mouthfull of beer. Spent most of the match trying to see what was going on. Got the day off school aswell cause we did'nt get home till about midnight. Good times.

Can't beat midweek match under the floodlights.
