Berry Mark my words Brendan Rogers will be next in, he has always been thought of as a future Reading boss, he knows the club inside and out, is very good friends with Hammond and is a very good coach, whether its too early for him we will have to see, but I would be well pleased if he came in

Never too early for him. He'll be leaving one mid-table Championship club for what will be another next season, unless a small miracle can be formed here with the young'uns and some clever buys.

He fits the bill perfertly.

I have to say though, his photo in the EP today smacks of the Mark McGhee grinding teeth style smile.

Indeed, the use of the word "allegedly" is under-rated.

Read the story too, it's not quite as cut and dried as Berry suggests

Anyway, back to the thread. I'll miss Dillon, who seems like a genuinely good guy. Hope he goes on to a successful managerial career.

How much more proof do you want "Williams admits assaulting former partner" is fairly cut and dry, I would suggest. I couldnt really care, she probably deserved it, but the article is quite factual

Agree, but he was going to plead guilty but her team wouldn't allow it is the bit that got me wondering.

Strange story to be fair, last week he was in the paper handing over a cheque to a charity, the press are not slating him and then he appeared on BBC South discussing Coppells departure, they dont usually have anything to do with celebs with bad news following them around, they probably know the truth about him

Good luck to Dillon and Downes, both played their part, but it does seem like a good time to completely rebuild and freshen things up.

I think Dillon stands a good chance of getting a lower league managers job after getting so much experience here. Downes strikes me as being a Mad Dog who stayed on here a little too long. Fantastic early impact then started to lose his effect. Although saying that we have been pretty tight defensively this season.

Not sure he's a manager, but good luck to him at his next club.

At least we can no longer blame any defensive errors on "Downes' Syndome"

I suggested a month or two back that a back room shake up was needed. I read elsewhere that perhaps SSC should have brought in new back room faces earlier in the season. I think what this means is that it opens the way for our old friend Colin to become our new manager.

Change for change's sake only.

This team are specialists of promotion to the Prem given a couple of years to rebuild.

And we've just totally dismantled it.

I hope we can magic up a champ-winning team overnight when it took us 135 years to do it last time we tried.

Good luck to us.

Can't say I agree here. Steve Coppell has dismantled it.

He decided to go, which is his right, but once he has gone, and the change in manager
is absolute, a new manager wants his own team, almost always (and a new manager, could,
in theory, re-sign the back-room staff)

The fact that the contracts were synchronised is probably a good thing

Why specialists, they managed it once, same as Boothroyd at Watford, times move on and we are too.

How Wally kept his jobb after being at fault for coaching our defenders into some sort of puke infested shoite performances, I would never know. How can strikers have any confidence when they score 3-4 goals and then see a bunch of TIRED, SLOW, WEAK, "DEFENDERS" being pushed over and run over by a bunch of low budget foreign imports I will never know. Wally should have went before this season started, but Coppell being the idiot he is kept him and instead got rid of Peter Mate. Redonk.

To the contrary, I believe lawyers will tell you that the effectiveness of the use of "allegedly" to avoid litigation is grossly over-rated!
