Wimb It once again comes down to who makes the TEAM better, Harte or Armstrong. In my own opinion he's the inferior defender and for all of his good points such as set pieces and having a good header on him, I don't personally believe that his overall contribution is superior to Chris Armstrong's.

Right now Brian believes otherwise which is fair enough and while we're keeping clean sheets it's hard to change the team but if Armstrong is at that level of fitness he was in 2008/2009 I believe he'll help the team more going forward.

I'm not arguing. I do seriously wonder, but I leave it to the manager who has the judgment calls to make every week.

And once again who rushed across the pitch faster than he ever does in normal play to get involved in the mini fracas and handbags between Gradel and Griffin?
Yes our supposed "professional and experienced" left-back.
What an example to our younger players.
The other thing he does that my brother pointed out after the Watford game-he moans at the other players when HE makes a mistake (which is quite often).

He also moaned when Gradel went down like he had been shot and was in agony after he clumsily tripped him on the edge of the area. Hypocrite!!

West_Reading They didn't even show our best chances. Kebe and Griffins cutbacks from the byline or Long's cross to the far post that Kebe almost got on the end off.

According to the assistant referee, Kebe did get on the end of it!

Since the manager is CLEARLY wrong in playing Harte instead of Armstrong, match after match after match

and since the manager is CLEARLY wrong in playing Long, who is "utter gash", match after match after match

and since the manger has "clearly" brought in a fat, useless "donkey" from QPR

and since the manager "clearly" can't see Church shouldn't be playing out there

isn't the answer CRYSTAL CLEAR?

McDermott OUT!!!

As do I, hence why I'm a keyboard warrior and he's Reading's manager :|

Nout wrong with debating it though, otherwise what's the point of a forum?

DEBATE I like, anti-player VITRIOL I don't.

Look for example how the mongs are already calling Firelighter "gash"

And if we have to have a thread about poor crowd participation
is it REALLY necessary to use Long's name as just another cheap shot?

(I realise that wasn't by you, BTW)

If we drift towards the relegation zone his faith in some of those players could lead him to lose his job.
4 draws on the trot is not great form thus people question team selection and if we were the small matter of 15 points better off and level with QPR we wouldn't.

Really?

A 1-1 Millwall
A 3-3 Sheffield Utd
H 3-0 Barnsley
H 0-4 Reading
A 1-1 QPR
A 2-2 Norwich City
H 1-1 Doncaster
H 3-2 Watford
A 0-1 Coventry City

9 Games = 5 Draws 2 Defeats 2 Wins before yesterday's win.

That's Burnley, now 6th, and my favourites to challenge Cardiff for 2nd place.

QPR (TOP) have had four consecutive draws

Forest (8th) have had 4 consecutive draws

Norwich (9th) have had four consecutive draws

Our draws have been against decent sides and it's always tough at Watford.

These have been our opponents in the last seven games.

They make up 7 of the top 8 attacks in this league!!!

(Derby is the one missing)

We lost just ONE of those games

1 19 35 1-3 Queens Park Rangers (A)
2 19 34 1-1 Cardiff City (H)
4 19 32 0-0 Leeds United (H)
4 19 32 1-1 Watford (A)
6 19 31 3-3 Norwich City (H) (corrected after today's game)
7 19 30 4-0 Burnley (A)
7 19 30 4-3 Doncaster Rovers (H)

P7 W2 D4 L1 14-11 10 points @ 1.43 ppg = a 66 point season.

Obviously if we can be averaging that against "top eight sides" we should be looking at 70-75 points
against the whole league. I'd say things look pretty positive.

A reasonable reply, VERY tediously predictable.

Of course it is, and it makes the comments made about his performances earlier in the season no less valid!

I agree. The comments were wrong then, and they are wrong now. Therefore they are no less valid.

Since your command of the English language is so poor or because you are deliberately being so obtuse, let me put it another way. The criticisms of Harte earlier in the season were entirely correct and valid. Furthermore, even the manager eventually decided that enough was enough and that Harte wasn't performing to the required standard.

Depends on what criticism one is talking about RB.

If you're is talking about Harte being too old or too shit or too slow to play in the Championship the criticisms were never valid.

If you're talking about his performances lacking something on occasion, or his presence in the side causing the whole defence problems because of his lack of pace, or that he went through a period of making serious individual defensive errors that cost us, then yes, those criticisms were valid at the time and still are.

He's been really good recently though, hence the award. Since he was dropped for a game or two in fact... coincidence? Maybe, maybe not.

There seemed to be an epiphany with Harte sometime around late Feb, where he suddenly seemed to start playing a lot better after declining performances for a month or two. No idea what caused it - perhaps he realised some pace had gone and started concentrating on positioning more, or not committing himself forward so much or something.

But whatever it was it worked.

Or the whole team lifted a little (Ledge's arrival?) and as the entire team's performance has improved so has Harte, with people covering better for him when he is out of position or caught for pace...
