As Sunderland were supposedly one of the front runners to sign Shane, surely them spunking £8M+ on Wickham is good news....? Maybe we'll end up hanging on to him next season....... If not, this deal will at least help RFC broker a decent price for him....??

Did you not see that sitter he missed in the play off final where he was kept quiet for the rest of the game?

Svlad Cjelli Whoever it is, we need to get a move on with selling Long - if we're going to, or there won't be any replacements left. Leicester have agreed terms for Mikail-Smith today.

Worst case would be to sell him in late August and have money in the bank but no-one to spend it on.

We'll sell him in the next four weeks. There will be no replacement. We will struggle.

No we wont. He will be replaced.

It must be great on your planet.

Meanwhile, back in the real world...............

Ipswich have just picked up £8 million ofr Wickham, so they should be able to afford £4 million for Long now.

A couple of years ago there was a youngster at Everton, I think his name was Baxter.

He was tipped as the next Rooney but I've not really heard much of him since, apart from being involved in some drugs bust.

Not sure how he is progressing now and whether a loan move could be a decent signing?

Wasn't it Jose Baxter?

Pretty sure that he's still there.

That's the one, not heard too much of him though. I think he made a couple of appearances last season but 2 years ago was tipped to be a world beater.

I'd not be surprised in the slightest if we don't get any replacement at all and stick with Church.

Church will quite possibly come good like Long did, but it may cost us massively again as like Long it may take him half a season to learn where the goal is.

Would love him to come good though, alongside Manset. And Hunt is a class player anyway. I'm sure he'll come good. But we can't do what we did with Long - we have to get someone decent in earlier.

From everything I have read about him on HNA so far he sounds great. I reckon he is deffo the answer to our problems. (goes to check what Championship manager says about him)

Pointless thread. Surely everyone must realise by now that his replacements are Brett Williams and Gozie Ugwu.

No chance of the club paying out a fee.

Just because the club has said it wont be using any of the Mills fee doesn't mean they wont. It's just not making it public that's all.

I expect when Long goes we'll be using some of his fee too, though the club will deny it.

Most football clubs know how this all works........
