personally altho there have been some signs of improvement I didnt think we were that great, especially against an absolute dire QPR.
Match was a great example of two teams who completely deserve to be in the Championship next year. 10 defeats out of 11 is it? pretty depressing stuff

The passing seems to be better but I thought we looked a bit clueless going forwards, altho Gunter showed some promise. We really need to shake things up and look at some attacking players.

Bring on next season.

Sat next to a Cardiff fan on the way home which didnt particularly cheer me up!!!

The worst two teams in the league showed everyone just why they are the worst two teams in the league. Very fitting they took each other down today. This dire season is almost over, praise be.....

Gunter was getting forward a lot more and running the channel, we miss Kebe to be honest and we need to keep him and get him fit or get a like-for-like replacement pdq.

I honestly don't understand people who say we were rubbish today. I wasn't expecting anything out of today but thought the way we passed the ball was really good and it's made me feel a lot happier about being able to compete in the championship, with the caveat that we do need a few more players. But I'd keep McCarthy, Marriappa, Morrison, Gunter, Guthrie, Jobi, Kelly, McCleary and HRK in the team, out of those who played today. Blackman will come good. I think we'll lose Pog and possibly Kebe, maybe Feds, but we can cope with that. Maybe keep ALF, but I actually think we could do with two new strikers. So shoot me.

I don't know what some of you expected really - we could have been a lot, lot worse - we could have not been bothered, but every player gave as good as he could imo and that bodes well for next season.

Thought that was a pretty poor game on the whole, with both teams totally devoid of genuine quality. We seemed to be lacking the passing quality we'd had in the last few games, playing longer and more direct more. At least in the first half. When the game opened up or our wingers (and Jobi) picked up the ball in space deep we played some nicer stuff until we got to the final third. Still, we could have had a penalty, had a goal mouth scramble and forced a decent save out of their keeper.

McCarthy - 7.5 good throwing, one or two good saves.
Gunter - 6.5 got forward quite well, didn't seem to troubled defensively
Kelly - 6.5 same as Gunter
Morrison - 7 threatened a little at corners and did alright defensively
Mariappa - 7 good defensively
Guthrie - 7 bypassed too much, but showed quality on the ball and when crossing from set pieces
Karacan - 6.5 passing was better, but he still doesn't look good enough for me. He doesn't track runners or pick up midfielders in space when the opposition have the ball in wide attacking positions.
McAnuff - 7.5 MotM was at the heart of most of our better play
Blackman - 4.5 kept giving the ball away, added nothing for almost half an hour, before he started to make the occasional positive contribution. At least he was involved, I guess.
McCleary - 6 a couple of good runs, but generally quiet and not much end product
Pogrebnyak - 7 held up the ball well, almost scored off what looked like his knee.

Robson-Kanu - 7 a huge step up from Blackman
ALF - 6 passing off when he came on, not really fed, but had a couple of promising moments.
Harte - 6 bit of an odd subsitution unless Kelly was injured. No problems defensively, possibly one poor set piece (unless the 4th of 4 corners was taken by Guthrie)

Bit disappointed with Adkins today, but at least we've got the relegation monkey off our back. Maybe the team will play with a bit more freedom and enjoyment. Will he play any youngsters now I wonder?

This 100%. We were terrible against an appalling QPR team who in the second half just gave the ball to us, when they weren't trying to hit the corner flag with their shots. Dreadful stuff.

I think the reason my post, for example, is more negative than your view, is because I saw these positives you seem to have found a few games ago and so today felt like a sideways, or slight backward step against a team that was absolutely there for the taking.

On the subject of Pog's scramble - with the benefit of replays and reverse angles, it looked like it wasn't the best header back across to him and it came at a very awkward height and angle for him to get good contact. His curler should have been much better though as should his header into the ground. That's the way the cookie crumbles when you're playing without form.

Oh and Kelly's peno shout should have been given, but contact was slight so it's hard to blame the ref if he didn't see it just right.

Nobody has been saying it was perfect - just that there are continuing signs of improvement.

It wasn't an 'appalling' performance, it was just average. We created a few good chances, and kept a second clean sheet at home in a row without McCarthy ever really being tested.

If we'd performed so 'appallingly' in the games against Wigan and Villa we may well have still been in the hunt.

It's a bit depressing when we count signs of improvement as creating one or two chances and managing to put together 10 passes without hoofing it halfway down the pitch!!

There were more than just a couple of chances.... And 10 passes is a bloody good effort :P

Point taken though, it wasn't a particularly good performance. Plenty of reasons to be miserable tonight, but I prefer to look towards the future and be positive about it.

I'm not miserable, looking forwards to the championship tbh! More wins (hopefully), more goals and better cheaper away days

Just saying how I saw it

Just checking some stats. Apparently Blackman had 83% pass completion.

Guthrie also more tackles and interceptions than Karacan.

Guthrie was very good. Interestingly Adkins was apparently trying to sign him for Saints in the summer.

If we can keep him and Karacan (the one that played today) in that midfield axis for next season then we'll have done very well.
