CountryRoyal I really don't think this is a game to use a bench mark for our defensive prowess. Leeds literally did nothing.

Why not?

Will95 Band - die

Bit harsh, he's better than Al-Habsi.

MmmMonsterMunch
Left early & walked past the Royals Family Area. At this point I started to slit my wrists.

WTF has happened to this club?!

CBA to give ratings. It was a shit game between two sh1t sides that will be nowhere near promotion.

I can take much of what you say as "Spoilt-brat-upset-cos-someone-is-playing-with-his-favourite-toy-itis", but I don't get your beef with the above. The club have spent some money, time and energy (including pricing) encouraging young people to come to football. They have made a small corner family orientated. They have put up pictures of a mascot!

My 6 year old girl came to her first game today and all she wanted to see was a goal. But she loved the whole thing. Singing along to just the few songs in the North is great. Seeing colourful friendly signs as you come in, calming for a youngster. And then, Kingsley and Queensly came into the stand to meet kids!!

What is not to like? What offends you? People introducing football to their kids via cleanliness and fun living. No - let's return to Elm Park with it's cess-pool toilets and gestapo style fenced in family area, or where kids ran away from their parents to sit on the wall at the front. Oh no. We can't do that any more, because more than 5000 people can actually be arsed to come and watch!

Get off your moral, I'm a better fan than you because I'm over twelve and listen to what the lovely lady Sasima said "We are here not to just buy a football team, but to help and be part of a community".

Family zone for Families. Next week I hope they open Moaning Tw*t Zone. Plenty of Nobbers can move in there!

In the meantime......

Football was crap........

Red card or not? Tough call, but laws of the game.......?

Well, the laws of the game make it clear that most decisions are "in the opinion of the referee". This is one where he'd have been right either way, but he probably made the better decision.

HRK was quite wide and moving away from goal, so it's hard to call it an obvious goal scoring opportunity. No red.

bobby1413 I wonder why some of the people on this thread (OP especially) - and in fact on this forum - go to games. I've never seen so much negativity and cynicism in my life

Do us all a favour and just don't go.

You're like moaning toddlers ...

"I don't like that woman saying something"
"Why are there trumpets"
"There was an advert on the big TV"
"The tannoy guy was annoying"
"That song was poo poo"
"There's a family zone"

Boo fcking hoo. Get over it. There was a game on you know. Maybe you just need to relax and enjoy the afternoon out.

It felt more like watching a 1970s Spanish saturday night TV variety show, and the game was awful. Enjoy it? Not today Bobby boy.

Well - that 96 minutes will not live long in my memory!

The defence looked much more solid. And that's the positives out of the way!

Too much hoof-ball; too much head-tennis; too many niggling fouls; too much diving; not enough passion ..... And we are still shit at throw-ins!

Williams is wasted on the wing. Thankfully he came central several times and made those trade-mark surging runs of his which frighten defences. McShane looks solid as would Ferdinand if he stopped hoofing the ball so often. Sa had some nice touches and will probably be a great asset once he gets the pace of Championship football.

When we played the ball around on the floor we looked OK and will probably get better as the players gets to know each other more.

As for this game, the BBC report got it spot on - 'drab, uninspiring'!

P!ssed Off Who is this old Thai lady who has probably only been to about three Reading games in her life "welcoming" me to my 17th season at the Madejski?

We don't want want your inspirational speeches on the pitch, or your shit songs.

We just want your money, so spend some or oxf*rd off.

It's her gaff (well one corner is) it's only polite for her to welcome you in. But *ahem* would you mind taking your shoes off?

Armadillo Roadkill I can save you all time. Just copy and paste the following.

Solid in defence. Hard working but lacking in creativity in midfield. Toothless in attack.

Repeat for 3 pages until too bored to continue.

Spot on.

Positives for me are....

Mcleary, Hurtsdo, Fosu, new striker mixed with the core who played today and that's the make up for a decent team.

Thought the flame throwing Carabao were decent but the rest was pretty cringey. RIP back the boys and make some noise. Entertainment was summed up with that numbly putting his boots on fir competition but to win nothing lol.

"Why don't you lighten up and watch the footy" is a poor argument. The football is obviously secondary to the club and its marketing team. Not helped by the autists in the north stand acting like we've paid to see the tadley band. The "matchday experience"
is like nails down a chalkboard to a thinking man, like myself 8)

Thought Blackman started brightly, but ran down blind alleys most of the second half.

Wasn't that impressed with Sa, he seemed more interested in appealing for free kicks than actually creating anything.

Don't agree with the doom & gloom though. Just a game where both defences dominated.

MmmMonsterMunch The atmosphere is just appalling on a match day & without doubt it affects the players. How can it have got SO bad since McD left? I just don't know how they'll ever sort it out now TBH.

We've gone past the point of no return I feel which is rather sad.

It's simple - turgid football and a home win rate of only 30% for the last three years. Decent football, goals and wins and the atmosphere will improve.

It was incredibly boring for most of the game, except the opening 10 minutes and a decent part of the second half. I thought atmosphere during the second half period where we were pushing was good

Whoever said "it was a game where both defences dominated" was spot on in my opinion.

I don't understand the negativity. I'm happy after today as defence looked really good. Some very positive signs, particularly when you consider who will soon be available for selection and our options.

A point is a fair result and a good one for that game.

For the miserable, moaning dinosaurs of this thread.
Have you ever pulled your heads out of your arses to consider the fact that maybe just maybe people like you and the negativity you have might have something to do with the very thing you complain about ?
There is a history at the Mad Stad of players geting booed and abused if they try something and it doesnt come off.
Show a bit of flair and fail and you will be hammered by the East Stand Mongtards.

Just fking lighten up for once, stop complaining and maybe your miserable arse might enjoy it for once !

I think it was great that the Thai's are trying something different. Time will tell if it works or not but at least they are having a go.

Most embarrasing thjng of the whiole thing today for me was a clearly already half cut SJM waving his bottle of Dom Pom around.
I can see them ditching him sooner rather than later.

Anyway onto next Saturday, up the Royals, up the Butterflies as well !

I agree all of your post, but wanted to highlight this bit, as I did think about starting a thread about the Thai Owners.

Whether you find them embarassing or not (and I don't FWIW)... I think we should all be delighted, happy and positive that the board seem to really want to connect with the fans. Not just sit in Thailand, or in the upper west wondering when they can leave.

We have owners who have put money up, who have taken the club on, and who actually seem to really want to progress the club (and the town from recent reports about construction around the stadium)

That's quite laughable. To suggest that the Madejski is some hotbed of player abuse and known as an impatient crowd ready to jump on players backs is just ridiculous.

The crowd at Madejski is one of the most patient and docile around. Yeah there's been a few examples of players being boo'd over the years, but I can't think of an example where it's a flair player getting abused for trying things that don't come off.

It's very early days for this rebuilt side from Clarke. I don't think he's ever going to give us a side that plays free flowing expansive football, but I do think he'll put together a pretty effective side that will go on and do ok. Until the side really beds down I'm not going to get too excited or despondent over a bore-draw.
