From Despair To Where? I've seen absolutely no even semi reliable sources suggest they were on anywhere near that much. £15,000-22,000 is the sort of figure I've seen quoted for both.

A lot of these figures only quote guaranteed payments though. We have no idea what incentivised payments the players get.

Delusional to think that. He was commanding Premier League wages and was on an absolute fortune per week at Fulham. He was earning in excess of £35k per week at Reading, trust me.

Why delusional? I've seen about 4 or 5 sources quoting those figures. Those figures may be wrong but to suggest I'm delusional because I'm basing my post on 5 different sources is , for want of a better word, delusional.

I posted 3 sources about a month ago in a discussion about Puscas. What's your source? But of course, I forgot. You like to present yourself as Mr ITK.

I trust no one who claims they know details of player wages.
Not saying it’s not possible to access this info somehow but I’d work on the basis that people are either guessing or breaking confidences....

Forgive me if I'm mistaken but don't player wages automatically beam into Football Manager so we know exactly what everyone is on?

I think my track record should tell you enough….

I will say again, Baldock and Aluko however outrageous it might sound we’re the highest earners at the club.

Not sure why you're being so aggressive about something you have absolutely no concrete proof of tbh, bit weird. Not like you.

It's recently become increasingly like Paul, unfortunately.

Knowing the odd transfer rumour and the kit doesn't tell me anything.

What's the current wage bill at then, what about last season. We'll get that in a few months anyway so we can test it.

Being as Aluko and baldock were amongst our record signings at the ‘peak’ of their career I wouldn’t rule Paul’s suggestion out

But yeah, you need to give us something to go on beyond ‘trust me’ being as it’s very different from lots of other sources

If that figure is correct then i will eat my hat - but football finances are so batshit crazy that stranger deals have happened.
I would suspect info was lost in translation and its a combined wages and depreciation of the players worth over the course of their contract.

I trust no one who claims they know details of player wages.
Not saying it’s not possible to access this info somehow but I’d work on the basis that people are either guessing or breaking confidences....

I can tell you as fact when you employ people, with the best will in the world trying to keep it secret (for their own good!) it's absolutely impossible to stop them somehow finding out what they earn. EVen if against their own interests having promised us they wouldn't blag they then go and somehow let the cat out the bag. And that's just normal employees. When you factor in agents (who have probably a good reason to brag about the deals they got) and huge numbers of people involved at variouis stages, people who know people who know people, I'd be pretty certain it's quite common knowledge within footy clubs who's on what.

I agree though, just saying it's breaking confidences of course.

I can tell you as fact, having worked for lots of companies in various industries, at various levels I have never discussed what I earned, or talked to colleagues about what they earn. It’s never even been a topic of conversation.
I can understand that it maybe different with some footballers, however I would suspect what ACTUALLY happens is some of them massively exaggerate what they are on.
Agents on the whole would have no reason to brag, it would be totally unprofessional and do them no favours with clubs or players. In fact by bragging that they got player x £5k extrathey are just going to make the players they didn’t do it for annoyed !
If it was ‘common knowledge’ then we’dnotbe In the situation where clearly no one knows, they just guess !

I guess it depends on the industries and the personnel involved then. You perhaps don't really need to know and the differences are probably not massive for doing the same job.

I wonder what footy players are like.

I'd put it to you it's probably more well known than you think, and more of a guess than I think.

The point is I very much doubt it's some massively kept secret and generally players have a very good idea indeed as do people in and around the club. BUT of course I'm just guessing all this myself and extrapolating based on my experience employing people in different businesses and different roles knowing that they absolutely cannot keep secrets.
