Snowflake Royal AthleticoSpizz Jagermesiter1871 Fully deserved.
Think Lumley is shite, although inocculously so. The amount of savable goals he's conceded this year is poor. Defintely the worst keeper I can think of in modern times. No idea why we signed him.
you sound like Ian when we signed him
Lumley is not our worst ever keeper…not even in modern times tbf. his play-acting and theatricals to ‘kill time’ on the rare occasion to win (lol) or draw a game and no doubt his dressing room banter has won him the PPOTS….and understandably so.
Would be happy enough to see both again next season.
He's certainly better than Mannone or Cabral last season.
But he's barely Championship quality.
Rafael last season was conceding a goal more than you would expect based on shot quality every other game. Lumley is less than half that. So in that sense you're absolutely right. I do think it's harsh to judge Rafael based on just that season rather than his Reading career as a whole.
(I know you're slightly sceptical of these sorts of metrics, but given that I place a lot of emphasis on it for judging Lumley, it's only fair I do the same for Rafael)
Mannone I don't think deserves to be in that conversation at all. He wasn't the super keeper that Al-Habsi was, but he was a step above the likes of Jaakola or Walker, and comfortably better than Bond or Virginia. I'd put Lumley above Virginia and Bond but below Jaakola.
The good thing about Bond and Virginia was that their time for us was mercifully brief. Lumley has had a whole season.
