bcubed 2 world wars, 1 world cup floyd__streete Absolutely clattered in a fair 50/50 challenge by Hunty, the Bionic Man. Won us the game probably, what with City's centre-half issues.
I'm in absolute shock that this is being taken so wrongly by so many.
It wasn't anywhere near a challenge, let alone a 50/50 one! Dunne 100% clattered into Hunt and probably a little too aggresively and not far off from a foul in my opinion.
Hunt was simply running with the ball totally innocently and Dunne came in on him HARD.
I'm surprised Hunt wasn't injured. No foul play at all, but if anyone is going to be accused of a foul it'd be Dunne for an extremely hard challenge on a player running full pelt.
Not even sure I can say Dunne didn't deserve it.
Glad he's ok though - just a gash.
Was going to add something after reading first few posts but 2ww 1wc has it spot on.
This was right in front of me, I heard the crunch and I was expecting Hunt to be injured. It was a very physical tackle, designed to hit the player hard. Nothing wrong with that but don't blame anyone else - it was Dunne's doing
I notice that Hunt was wearing blades though. There have been concerns expressed about these being more likely than studs to end up cutting opposing players and not just from Sir Alex:
http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/ ... _rage.htmlMedical experts have also suggested that blades lead to a greater incidence of ankle, knee and metatarsal injuries as they prevent the foot rotating sufficiently and thus additional stress is placed through the knee and ankle joints as well as the foot. I believe even Craig Johnston, who introduced blades with his Predator boot design, has now spoken about the risks they pose and no longer favours them.
Given these concerns, I am surprised to see so many Reading players are still wearing boots with blades.
