Would be happy with Baba. Never felt he and Yiadom were the issues last year defensively. Main issues were centrally and when either/both full backs were out.

If him signing plays a part in Yiadom also staying then on balance a good deal.

Baba is certainly more than adequate, could do a hell of a lot worse than to bring him back in. Think they'll be a few other suitors.

I hope I am wrong but I am only realistically expecting Yiadom to sign a new contract. I was hoping both Laurent and Rino would also sign but I can’t see it happening.

Tough to say as there is still another 3 weeks+ until they officially become free agents. Just based on interest, I could understand why Laurent and Rino would go to Cardiff and Bristol City respectively, but it just seems like a bit of a sideways move personally speaking, particularly the latter where it could end up being worse off.

I think Azeez will sign, Hoilett if offered and Yiadom I'm positive will, the rest is still up in the air.

Absolutely no issue with Baba coming back. We have no-one in that position, so it would fill the one massive hole we have in the squad, we know what we're getting, he knows the club so it's a safe option. I don't see anyone else leaping out who would represent a better option in the circumstances.

I liked baba more than rated him tbh

He was ok - felt wingers could always get behind him and 1 assist is a poor return though

Hopefully we can agree on similar wages, although with Chelsea knowing we have a little more leeway in wages this time around they will probably want us to subsidise more. But if we could get him back on £6-8k per week, I'd be happy with that.

Am I right in thinking that we currently have 9 contracted first team players, plus our academy players and preseason starts on 20 June?

Didn't Derby have about 6 players under contract last summer? They would have stayed up had they not have been deducted points.

I wouldn't start panicking yet, would rather we get the right people in and think about it a bit. We have a tight budget and can't waste whatever wage budget we have on the first available player. We will probably see a lot of trialists in our pre season games and Ince and Bowen will make their minds up middle of July.

You’re most probably right. I just thought that in an interview Ince had said that he wanted to have a squad in place that could go through the whole preseason together. Tbf it was probably more about avoiding what happened last summer when we signed players late in the window who hadn’t had much of a preseason.

I think a lot of that was down to the EFL's restrictions on us last summer. Given what Ince and others have said, I don't think we will be in the same situation this summer and hopefully we can get a couple of players in and some more tied down to new deals before pre-season begins later this month.

Not sure they would have personally. It’s a lot easier to play without pressure. Every time they had a real chance to close the gap to us, they never capitalised. Credit to them for having a real go at it but it was almost at a shot to nothing for them

Agree with that. The times there was ever really any pressure or maybe even expectation they fell away. Similar to Peterborough and Barnsley.

Rhinomota is an interesting one. He is a real homely family man and continues to travel up everyday from Portsmouth. I cant see him moving across to the West Country, so although he will have little loyalty to us, it will just depend whether South London clubs can enhance current contract on the table and football ambitions.

Laurent would be more likely to leave and may find the Cardiff revolution very tempting.

Rinomhota lives in Warfield.

It's not exactly uncommon for footballers to live a fair distance away from where they actually play. Warfield to Bristol might be a touch too far, but no reason as to why he couldn't move to Newbury for example and still be within touching distance of his family whilst being an hour or so away from Bristol.

Agree it would make more sense to move to a London-based team though, or better yet, just remain contracted with ourselves.

Why would he drop down a division after helping us stay up?
