robbieroyal Presumably if Feds wants to continue his career here he will have to release a statement diffusing the situation?

Some fans already are not gonna forgive him....

...but only the type of half wit who believes rumours started on HNA.

Davezk

Davezk I wish players would be more professional at times. Throwing a strop because he's been dropped, after a number of recent mistakes is petulant at best.

McCarthy doesn't instill me with confidence... but Federici should take the managers decision like a man and not a child. Similarly with his overly emotional girlfriend.

You are saying he threw a strop. Someone else above is saying what he did was comparable to a strop by Long. I still haven't seen any evidence of a strop from Federici. I expect he did one at home with his girlfriend, that's all--probably two once he read what she and her sister tweeted.

If fans on here keep saying he threw a strop--which would be unprofessional and would get him disciplined--sooner or later it will be accepted that he did throw a strop. Is such a rumour mill any good to any oone?

Well he claimed he is fit which contradicts the manager, and suggests to me that he disagrees with the decision publicly. Therefore it can be assumed he did throw a strop and his missus couldn't keep her mouth shut and vocalised it on the internet.

Also I'm sure I saw a picture of him saying 'just remember who is number one'. Not exactly taking it well if it is his account on instagram.

Mr Federici is scheduled to see a specialist about the bone bruising in his knee today according to the EP which would seem to indicate he is injured although the injury may not be something that would stop him playing in the short term - but perhaps may cause issues longer term for the player.

So it looks like McCarthy starts against WBA, Taylor on the bench, Feds is seeing a knee specialist and Anderson is out on loan at Pompey.

Strange to think that the goalkeeper department was probably our strongest area throughout all of last season.

Feel for McCarthy there, he wouldn't have seen that coming through a group of players. He's been outstanding today.

Ideal A one-on-one with McCarthy isn't even a goalscoring opportunity

But an average shot is!

Guess my praise jinxed him but I think Feds might have been criticised had he let one in like that! :(

Ideal 1 he couldn't see the shooter
2 it went through the legs of two defenders blocking his view
3 might have had a slight deflection on it

How the fcuk do you compare that to the 35 yard lump of a turd clanger that fedders let in the other week?

Just how tall is McCarthy? And is he not allowed to move to get a better view? Might have had a slight deflection? - cling on straws. It was an error and my Russian speaking commentators appeared to think so too. When our strikers do F8ck all we can't afford any of our keepers to make errors.

And have a look at McCarthy's body language after, seemed to suggest some self blame there, not just frustration/disappointment at conceding.

McCarthy had a very good day today I thought, barring the goal which I think he was probably unsighted for. Can't see Fed gaining his place back any time soon once this injury debacle is over.

RoyalBlue Just how tall is McCarthy?

193, federici 188. So not a huge difference, McCarthy certainly plays 'long' though. Really stretched for a few.

McCarthy did well today against West Brom. For me he has to continue with good performances like this before he proves that he deserves to keep the shirt when Federici is fully fit.

That's 1 more good performance than Fed has produced so far this season!

McCarthy looked much more composed today. If he can keep building on this feds will find it hard to get back in. Early days still.

Ideal 'greed, fedders isn't coming back to the side any time soon

Too right he shouldn't. McCarthy has always been better than Federici and it shows.
