under the tin It's hardly that magnanimous of old Ken.
If the level is pitched at 60% of turnover, it still puts Leeds on a different financial planet from the likes of Peterborough or Donny. :|

Agreed.

I would have thought its one of the smaller clubs that would have objected for exactly that reason.

It all reads well in principle but as long as the huge rewards of the premier league remain on offer there will be clubs and chairmen willing to gamble. Non of these new rulings will be loop hole free and the cycle will continue

The strange thing - unless it's changed over the past few years, is that July 1st is the official date that promotions and relegations take effect (as well as contracts starting).

So this FL AGM would have been attended by QPR, Swansea & Norwich as well as Sheff Utd, Scunny and Preston.

I'd not be surprised if it was one of the first three of those who were the ones who didn't attend.

One thing that has to happen is that the FL MUST make it abundently clear to everyone exactly what punishments will be applied to clubs who are found in breach of any new rules.

But there are at least rules, so action can be taken against those who break them, and there's a clear definition of what "breaking them" actually means.

Without that, at least, nothing will ever change.

Yes, there are rules which is a start, but broken rules need punishment. Without some form of sentencing guidelines you're giving the Football League carte blanche to dish out case precedent sentences but my view is that it should be the clubs themselves deciding on the adequate sentences. They then have the opportunity to place them into black and white within the text of the new regulations, so if Numpty FC are found guilty of this, they get this punishment. Black and white, no arguments.

I fear this won't happen though. It will be a case of rules implemented, punishment not even thought about until someone breaks the rules.
