I just can't see Long changing the player he is and starting to score regularly even if he gets a couple in quick succession. Afterall, he did get three goals in 5 games earlier in the season (2 penalties admittedly) and still didn't kick on from there at all.

He's got enough quality to go on little runs of scoring. But he simply isn't good enough mentally and technically to score regularly across a whole season. He may come good, but I can't see it happening with us. He's going to need to drop a league and restart his career that way.

It is all about opinions really isnt it.

Yes, but facts help and you're failing with them massively. You've just highlighted that we've scored less at this point this season than last, yet ignored the fact that our strikers have scored more than at this point than last season. The obvious logical conclusion being the problem is not the strikers.

Our lack of goals is not an issue with the strikers - who are scoring at a decent rate. The problem is the creativity of the rest of the team and goals from other areas of the pitch.

Le Fondre is definitely capable of 20 goals in a season. A fit Hunt starting a full season capable of 15. Manset easily capable of 10 off the bench and from cameos (as is Hunt if not starting most games). Church is the only one without a good scoring record.

The point you seem to be missing is that the issue does not lie with the strikers particularly, because they are doing ok.

It's like trying to reason with a brick wall.

Facts would not suggest Hunt will ever be fit for a full season, sadly.

For Church read Long, 12 goals in 43 games in 09/10, so did have the potential .

Le Fond I would hope will be capable of 20, but do we play as he needs for him to be prolific?

Would it be that what is missing so far this season is the goals from dead ball situations? Harte and Siggy, quick look ad 3 pens scored in first 16 compare to one this .
so perhaps not.
