Im not one of the Adkins Out Brigade but I just dont see how we can be so bad with the squad we have. I actually dont think its that bad. Yes we are short on defenders maybe but we do have a defence but they are playing appallingly.
It can surely only be down to the Manager and Coaching?

We remove our only striker for a midfielder? So we go 4-6-0 to try to shut up shop at 0-3???

Something needs to change defensively. Whether it's putting more in midfield or more defence I don't know. But we can't play 2 up and 2 wingers with such a gaping hole in midfield and fragile defence.

Akpan, Taylor/Kuhl/Hector, Norwood maybe.

Gunter, Hector, Pearce, Cooper, Obita

Bring in Kelly for Gunter... bring in Cooper for one of Pearce, Hector or Gunter.

Agree we've got to increase defensive confidence and resilience somehow, anyhow.

ManchesterRoyals We have always done things on the cheap

I wish SJM would fxxk off

You know it's the highly effective 'Reading Way' and any other approach will inevitably result in financial disaster.

Unlike those other irresponsible clubs we have never faced administration...........

Yet still the disciples sing his praises!

New owners were hardly going to invest millions before the takeover was complete. They were confirmed quite a while after the window closed so they didn't really have a chance to change anything. They invested a little bit in good faith before the test was complete.

You bunch of oxf*rd s.

Adkins should be doing better with this team anyway.

Adkins out

You can't spend money you don't have. Well you can, but then you implode worse than we are currently doing.

It's not like we're just sitting on millions FFS. I appreciate this is shit and people are frustrated, but why talk such bollocks. Can't we at least focus on something that isn't utterly stupid and pointless.

Wycombe Royal I haven't spoken out yet against Adkins but with the way it is going again tonight I don't see a choice. We are shipping a lot of goals and faced with a tough trip to a team capable of scoring a few goals. So why did he put out an attacking lineup? He should have made sure the wide areas were covered defensively and pushed our wide players so far up the pitch leaving Gunter and Obita exposed. The midfield should have sat deep and soaked up some pressure whilst trying to hit them on the counter attack.

We should have set ourselves up to not concede instead of being the team making the running, it is just naive tactics, almost straight from a computer game. We didn't have the personnel to make a significant change to the defence so it had to be a tactical change and I don't think Adkins is capable of that.

And what players did he have available to make that defence minded lineup? Everyone would have been howling for his blood if he had tried to go defensive when we have such poor defensive players/options.

It's not just about playing defensive players it's about setting them up to,play more defensively. Have Norwood and Akpan sit in front of the back, then have Cox or Blackman playing slightly more advanced. The two wide players should have played deeper thus protecting Gunter and Obita rather than leaving them exposed to Pugh and Ritchie.

He also had the option of bring Cooper in and pushing Hector in to midfield in place of one of the three wingers he started with.

I accept there are injuries to key players, but the buck stops with him. As it does in any management position.
He has done nothing over the last few games to even try and change the way we are set up.
And before anyone says I have been watching over 25 years so am used to the bad times too.

I think tonight finally I can't defend Nigel anymore. This is just shocking. Players available or not their confidence must just be shot to pieces now.

They would struggle doing anything together...Gunter must be truly the worse RB Reading have ever had and to give him the accolade of Captain is truly absurd
