Avon Royal Can't believe how fat and out of condition he looks. Last year he was onto players in a flash, this year he just seems to trundle around doing nothing.

Should not have signed him, should have taken him on loan again so he is playing for his future.....

Anyone know what the situation with Olofanjani is these days?

I thought he was at Hull and available again over the summer but he's not listed on their website anymore. Just thinking that if we can get rid of Howard and Williams it might free up some budget to get in a real bit of competition for the central midfield. As much as I'd like that player to be a more cultured and creative force I think it's clear McDermott favours the likes of Legiertwood and Karacan and so perhaps he'd be a viable option to strengthen us a bit?

I thought that at the play-off final he might have been carrying an injury and he has certainly lost that 'edge'. As with so many, though, he cannot become a bad player overnight and I hope that we shall soon see a return to 2010/11 form.

He looks like someone stuck him on the fried chicken diet over the summer.

If he's no injured then he needs to lose a bit of that junk.

Lazy, real lack of effort performance again. Same goes for a few of the others which is not the Reading way. We're used to high energy performances, closing down the oppo quickly and then breaking forward. We haven't seen any of that yet.

Needs to be binned and someone else deserves a chance.

the whole team are being a bit rubbish. not sure its fair to highlight mikele. although he was pretty awful. i wouldnt have said he looked any worse than many others on the pitch. and id certainly hold out more hope of him finding form again than many other of our players

I agree, this is a deeper problem than a few of our players not being up to it or being out of form.

I think it goes back to the playoff hangover and the lack of ambition shown by the club in not only replacing those that have left but not looking to strengthen in the first place.

If we'd have kept Mills and Long (plus Legiertwood signing his contract) over the summer I don't think we'd have really have looked to sign anyone. As has been said time and time again, if you stand still your effectively moving backwards. The players can see that and I think, as with the second season syndrome in the Premier League, they've lost their edge because of the disappointment of losing at Wembley and then the club not really looking to kick on over the summer.

If we could get a couple of fresh faces in now it might not be too late to get them all back on track and up for it again.

You seem to be missing my point brendy. Making do with what you've got doesn't work in sport, or in fact most areas of business. You have to keep striving to improve or you end up with everyone else overtaking you.

What the club needs, IMO, is a lift. The lift that a couple of marque signings can give the fans and the squad because at the moment the players seem flatter and less motivated than even our bunch of pretty apathetic fans.

Patience is great in some cases. I think with a bit of patience some of our youngsters and new signings will come good. If we can't address the worrying decline in the short term though we might never give those players the right platform to improve.

All credit to Leigertwood for being honest on the OS.

At least he knows he is not playing like last season and sounds like he really does want to give 100%.
