Earlier in the thread I said we would be best to remain with Fed because bringing a young player in like McCarthy was a big risk and could damage him if he had a disaster. I stand by that - as it was a risk.

However, he has performed brilliantly since he came into the side and taken his chance and it is very difficult to see Federici getting back in unless McCarthy is injured. Well done to the lad. He was fantastic yesterday.

I don't hate Fererici.

But I'm on record as saying that I do very much dislike him - and I even went to the trouble of documenting the reasons for this dislike. But "hatred" is definitely over-stating it - this is only a game, after all.

But yes, I'm delighted at the way that this has turned out - the goalkeeper who I like and who I think think has the potential to be the much better 'keeper in the long run, and who I think is a model professional, has turned out to have the ability to take his place ahead of the 'keeper who I dislike and who, whilst I acknowledge that he had a great year last year, think was playing at the limit of his abilities then.

And what I see as an injustice committed in April 2011 has now been righted.

All most fans want is what, in their opinion, constitutes our best team getting selected every week. Even though Fed made some stupid remarks, this has nothing with hate.

McCarthy was the better keeper when he was dropped 2 seasons ago and he's STILL the better 'keeper since his return with every performance being superior to Federici's 3 outings this season.

As a seriously pro McCarthy person, who doesn't like Federici much. No such thing has been proven.

The only thing that's been proven is that McCarthy is good enough to play well in the PL, and Federici has a slight injury, is out of form and is a dick. But then we've known that last bit for years.

It has been proven that McCarthy is a good keeper. Not sure you can say he is a better keeper than Federici after just two games.

There does appear to be a fair bit of unfair dislike for Federici on this forum - in that respect it appears Sandman and Sciag are right.
