Before the thread descends into statistical idiocy, things just feel better under McDermott. We don't look like a team of players who have been upset by the club anymore or a load of under-performing egos. The side on the pitch in all the recent games seems a bit easier to like and more fun to watch. That is because of McDermott and it is great to have him back.

I agree with the "feel" but the stats can't be argued with.

Brian McDermott (1) was historically one of our top three manager's ever
and, despite coming into the club when we were in free-fall, he has
turned us round and even with two defeats in his first three games
Brian McDermott (2) has already reached 4th place.

BEFORE the games were played I said we should ignore the early results.

If you look at him AFTER the first two weeks (W1 L2) his figures are

P13 W6 D5 L2 23-13

As Kes will point out all 3 wins were against crap teams and Clarke beat 3 better teams at some point.

Maybe we should demand the fixtures are rescheduled ..... or just deal with whatever's ahead.

Actually Kes is pretty confused. He was arguing that points were the only measure of improvement or achievement a few minutes ago and that neither opponents nor anything else should be taken into consideration

Must have been celebrating scraping past Southampton last night like beating Bayern in the champions league final!

Can't get carried away with 2 narrow wins against sides almost certainly going down.

I didn't see Rotherham (who by all accounts had a nailed on penalty turned down) but second half yesterday was poor and even in the first half Charlton got through our defence easily and had numerous shots on goal throughout.

He can't say that, considering he argued you can only beat what's put in front of you when comparing Clarke and Brian's cup records.

Coincidentally if we beat Fulham, Brian will overtake Clarke's PPG.

Snowball
marlowuk OK - the win percentage for Steve Coppell (Excluding Prem games) is
52.30%
I don't know how Snowball's figures were calculated but this includes all league games including play-off games.

The win percentage including all FA Cup games is
50.54%

That 50.4% is Steve's or Brian's?

If you mean the 50.54% that is for Steve Coppell.

Erm - you're the one being inconsistent in how you measure success. But I like the way you're quite angry about it that you go off topic to try and have a dig.

Well we've narrowly lost games against teams looking certain to get in the playoffs so let's not be too hard on the team.
And we've had one or two 'nailed on' go against us...

I don't really buy into the approach of finding a way to belittle any victories. We won the games, not too long ago it was hard to see how we were going to win at all.
