Good to see Tuma back on the bench. Don’t notice anyone obvious missing for us.

Maybe a couple back tomorrow for the first team given Ryan starting

Possibly. Rushesha playing, likewise, is perhaps an indication of that too.

Turns out Borgnis is pronounced “Bor-gee” (or “Bor-gnee”).

Have to say Rushesha has been very disappointing in that first half. Ryan probably looked our best player so far.

What’s happened to Osho? Assume he is injured but not heard about it at all

Very interesting fact Joe Brayson who came on at HT for Newcastle is the son of the one and only Paul Brayson.

Does the Ryan sending off and suspension affect first games?

No idea what happened with the red cards - only the linesman seemed to have spotted anything.

Disappointing goal to concede - straight through the keepers legs. Would want to see it back though.

Tuma came off the bench for his first minutes this season (IIRC).

Correct. Tuma played a couple of games in pre-season then was injured by Bearwood Day so it's good to see him back

Having just read the rules, my best interpretation is that any suspension applies only to Premier League 2 and Premier League Cup. Ryan could be available for the EFL Trophy.

As for the incident, I didn't see it any more than the referee did. The Newcastle forward stayed on the ground, but Reading got the free-kick. Ryan indicated that he had been elbowed, so I expect that his red card was for retaliation and that would mean a three-game ban. The Newcastle player apparently got a second yellow, which means that the linesman didn't see an elbow, but obviously did see a foul.

The two stand out players for me last night were Ryan (before his red card) and Spencer - both being twenty-one, they either need greater first team exposure imminently for us or to go out on loan in January.

Duah (18) looks composed and didn't look out of place in his first U21 season. Patton caused some problems, but had clearly tired in the second half.

Rushesha as the most senior player was very poor in the first half; many stray passes and didn't really look that interested in the game. Was better in the second, but was disappointing given he's the one with the most first team experience and is twenty-three(!) now.

One observation: our average age was 20.5 compared to 19.1 for Newcastle.
