Royals and Racers As expected nothing from Reading FC on this afternoon’s U23 match against Charlton in the last PL 2 group cup.
Charlton website has a preview and Charlton FC Twitter are covering the match- triallist in goal for the home team( Charlton must be the Man City of the championship !!!!) KO 1pm
Charlton are saying if they lose today they will be away to Group B winners Everton- if they are correct it also means if we draw or lose, we are away to Everton.

Interestingly* enough, Charlton don't actually have a dedicated Academy Twitter page.

I wonder how many of their other youth games they have covered.

Certainly they have covered the last 2 afternoon academy games very well. ALot of teams cover their academy on their main twitter page.

Royals and Racers 2-1 Reading new signing Ajose scores 72 mins

2-2 75 mins PEN
F-T 2-2 not a great result against a lower league team who played with 10 men for 75 mins.
Charlton win the group and we qualify in 2nd, and if Charlton are correct they will play at home the runners up in group B and we play the group B winners Everton away.( it was that way in 2018/19)

Royals and Racers A report in a North East newspaper on Sunderland`s recent triallist`s states that Tyler Frost has played the 2 matches he is allowed to under the PL 2 rules. Sunderland apparently have been impressed with his performances, and the player has been told by Reading that he has no future at the club- not surprising as they let him go out on trial. Sunderland will now wait until Frost`s contract runs out.
The Royal`s U 23`s next match is on Monday next February 24th against Charlton in the final group A match of the PL 2 cup. The match is at Princes Park Dartford with a 1pm KO. Both teams have qualified out of the group into the last 16 knock out round, however the Royal`s need to win to top the group and get a home fixture. A draw or defeat will mean an away fixture at one of the other 7 group winners.

update on teams that have qualified for the PL 2 cup last 16 knock out stage
Group winners Charlton, Everton,West Brom, Bournemouth, Exeter, Blackburn, Derby/Wolves and Liverpool/Wigan
Runners up Reading, Newcastle,Doncaster, Middlesborough, Derby/Wolves and Liverpool/Wigan

Reading still to put today`s result up anywhere- in fact they have a(default i think) score of 0-0 on the U23`s fixture page for the fixture. No need for the normal suspects to reply- information only

The academy tweet was sent at 15:07 yesterday afternoon, your post was at 21:22 yesterday evening. The clubs main twitter also re-tweeted it yesterday afternoon, I don't know what time it was, but I was still at work.

You didn't check hard enough.

The Royals U23`s return to league action tomorrow with a PL 2 div 2 away fixture against Aston Villa. The game is being played at the Bodymoor Heath training ground KO 7pm. Realistically the young Royals now have no chance to reach the play-offs, being 9 points off 5th place with only 5 matches left, so their only hope of silverware this season will be in the 2 cup competitions which all could be decided within 4 days the week after next when they play Everton away on Sunday March 8th in the last 16 PL 2 cup. This is followed by the Berks and Bucks senior cup QF match away to Marlow FC on Wednesday March 11th.
