*EXCUSE WATCH*

by floyd__streete » 28 Jan 2015 13:10

We need to get rid of Adkins! - yep, thankfully we did. But our PPG under Clarke is even worse.

Wait until we get Williams, Mackie, Guthrie back - yeah they've all featured more regularly recently and - guess what - they've not been very inspiring either.

Its all Anton's fault! - yeah and I am hardly enamoured by these Thais thus far.

We've had a team full of young players, they need time to learn - yeah and the likes of Kuhl, Cooper and Taylor were binned off by the management at the first opportunity so forgive me for thinking that some of this 'Golden Generation' might be a little more Julian Kelly than Gylfi Sigurdsson.

Any other cracking excuses out there for the fact that we're just not very good at all :?:

What's your excuse for being a negative queen all the time?

The league is an unwelcome distraction as we march ever closer towards an FA Cup win and European football 8) 8)

In the absence of Keith Jones, I blame the opposition (normally actually playing as a team).

floyd__streete We need to get rid of Adkins! - yep, thankfully we did. But our PPG under Clarke is even worse. Yes, we're struggling for goals but at least we've stopped giving teams a 2 goal start with farsical defending. I think performances are getting better

Wait until we get Williams, Mackie, Guthrie back - yeah they've all featured more regularly recently and - guess what - they've not been very inspiring either. Williams has been disappointing, since returning, Mackie has been disappointing from the day he turned up and I don't remember anyone suggesting Guthrie was the answer to anything

Its all Anton's fault! - yeah and I am hardly enamoured by these Thais thus far. But, the current financial clusterfuck is not of their making. They've bought into a pretty shitty situation and as yet, there's no sign of them fcuking off when the going gets tough.

Funny how results were better earlier in the season when the team was full of academy graduates

What's your excuse for being a miserable, tedious melt? I'd much prefer to watch some of the shite uninspiring football we have seen served up recently than listen to the drivel you constantly came out with in Y25. #Alarmbells

For once I feel floyd's level of pessimism is well justified.

I'll be happy with not being relegated this year.

Adkins results, including cups (one win against league 2 opposition)

W9 D4 L11 1.33 ppg and a -9 GD (37.5% win ratio)

Clarke (excluding the too-soon Watford game) W3 D3 L1 and 1.79 ppg with a GD of 8-6

INCLUDING the Watford game Clarke is on 37.5% win ratio (but more draws, so better)
excluding that game Clarke is on a 43% win ratio

Extrapolate both managers’ results (excluding Watford) to a 46-Game League Season

NA 61 Points 58F - 75A (13th Last Season)
SC 79 Points 52F - 34A (5th Last Season, one point off 4th)

and we are getting better under Clarke, were going downhill under Adkins

Lol, would the Watford game have been "too soon" if we'd won, rather than lost against ten men?

You can't include cup games and then calculate a ppg and extrapolation. Those games are different, teams make changes, they are played different tactically,....remove them and then see what it looks like.

So, just to clarify Snowball, you are suggesting that with Clarke in charge for a full season and mimicking the for we currently have under him we would be in a playoff spot?

Or have I missed something pretty basic here?

EDIT: I see - you've included statistics for a completely different competition. Bizarre but you carry on.

Nice statistical massaging.

I can categorically confirm that we have gone backwards (in the league) under Clarke using my statistics:

Clarke's team v Watford L 0-1 : Last time Adkins team played Watford W1-0
Clarke's team v Brighton D2-2 : Last time Adkins team played Brighton D1-1
Clarke's team v Norwich W2-1 : Last time Adkins team played Norwich W2-1
Clarke's team v Middlesborough D0-0 : Last time Adkins team played Middlesborough W1-0
Clarke's team v Fulham L1-2 : Last time Adkins team played Fulham W3-0
Clarke's team v Millwall D0-0 : Last time Adkins team played Millwall W3-2

Clarke 6 points - Adkins 16 pts. I rest my case

LOL.

I think we are improving slighty under Clarke but using a sample of 7 games, comparing it to a sample of 24 games and extrapolating ppg is an odd way of trying to prove it. Even by Snowball's standards.
