We have to play away on the 26th August due to Reading festival. Thus I think we'll be at home first up. If so, I'm hoping it's against someone like Cheltenham, Port Vale or Exeter so we have every chance of starting off with a win.

5th August: Reading v TBC
8th August: EFL cup
12th August: TBC v Reading
19th August: Reading v TBC
22nd August: Reading v TBC
26th August: TBC v Reading

Missed out our renewed acquaintance with the FA Cup First Round (proper), which I assume will be November 3rd - 5th.

We don't actually have to play away on festival weekend.

It just has to be a "police-free" fixture, so we could still play a small team without a significant away following at home that day.

Not sure many teams will take a small following (under 500) since the smallest clubs in that league haven't played us for donkeys years and we're a new ground to a lot of clubs' fans in league one. Only club that probably will take less than that is Burton Albion

Fleetwood spring to mind. Whilst we've never played them before, their highest away attendance of the season appears to be only ~650. I can't imagine they'd bring more than about 300 here.

We used to have one of the highest average away attendances at the Madejski because it's easy to get to Reading by rail or road. And we're not at the arse end of the cou try somewhere.

Assume not much has changed with that. So agree visiting attendance next year should be pretty high up for the league.

Last time we were there, it did sometimes feel that teams treated it as something of a 'big day out', as playing in a ground of our capacity was something of a novelty then - and the stadium was still new and shiny.

I'm not sure the likes of Bristol Rovers would bring 4500 again though, even if we gave them that many tickets.

Would still probably expect them to sell 1,500-2,000 though.

People in Reading aren't falling over themselves to come to watch Reading. Unless they're given free tickets that is.
