Where we going next season then?

by Sutekh » 27 May 2025 07:26

Now we know the constitution of the division next season, only the one new ground for us though we have been to Wimbledon previously for a friendly.

Promoted
Relegated

  1. Barnsley - 193 miles
  2. Blackpool - 243 miles
  3. Bolton Wanderers - 218 miles
  4. Bradford City - 220 miles - last played FA Cup 2015
  5. Burton Albion - 140 miles
  6. Cardiff City - 120 miles - last played 2022/23
  7. Doncaster Rovers - 186 miles - last played 2013/14
  8. Exeter City - 156 miles
  9. Huddersfield Town - 206 miles
  10. Leyton Orient - 80 miles
  11. Lincoln City - 170 miles
  12. Luton Town - 57 miles - last played 2022/23
  13. Mansfield Town - 157 miles
  14. Northampton Town - 84 miles
  15. Peterborough United - 117 miles
  16. Plymouth Argyle - 198 miles - last played League Cup 2019
  17. Port Vale - 167 miles - last played 2023/24
  18. Reading - 0 miles
  19. Rotherham United - 180 miles
  20. Stevenage - 63 miles
  21. Stockport County - 202 miles
  22. Wigan Athletic - 208 miles
  23. Wimbledon - 46 miles - last played 2003/04
  24. Wycombe Wanderers - 23 miles

That’s approx. 3400 miles on the road this season, think it’s around 200 miles more than last season.

Fixtures due 26 June I think?

Been a while since we’ve played Doncaster. I reckon it’s 10 years ish, when we were both in the Champ? Alex Pearce step-over game perhaps?

Edited the OP to show in the last time we played each promoted and relegated club.

Bradford is my closest away game. While it doesn't have the best reputation, there's a little belt of small towns between Leeds and Bradford near me so I'll definitely make a day of it so long as dates align (ideally an early away day while beer gardens are still usable).

Wimbledon on my list, but expect it'll sell out at the season ticket holder stage which will rule me out.

My wife's family are from Plymouth, so if I can be bothered making the long trip it would also be a good time even if I'll take a bit of stick. The Barbican is well worth a few rounds.

For no particularly good reason I've re-ordered the L1 clubs NORTH to SOUTH

Blackpool Bradford C
Huddersfield
Bolton
Wigan Barnsley Doncaster
Stockport Rotherham
Lincoln
Mansfield
Port Vale

Burton Peterborough
Northampton

Luton Stevenage
Wycombe
Cardiff Reading Leyton Orient
Wimbledon

Exeter
Plymouth

Not as horrifically northen as I first thought but very little in the way of local derby interest.

Yep not too bad, I'd bracket Mansfield and Port Vale with the midlands group too

In distance order. Assume Sutekh's mileage is from the SCL, in which case Brisbane Road is 50 miles, not 80.

1. Blackpool – 243 miles
2. Bradford City – 220 miles
3. Bolton Wanderers – 218 miles
4. Wigan Athletic – 208 miles
5. Huddersfield Town – 206 miles
6. Stockport County – 202 miles
7. Plymouth Argyle – 198 miles
8. Barnsley – 193 miles
9. Doncaster Rovers – 186 miles
10. Rotherham United – 180 miles
11. Lincoln City – 170 miles
12. Port Vale – 167 miles
13. Mansfield Town – 157 miles
14. Exeter City – 156 miles
15. Burton Albion – 140 miles
16. Cardiff City – 120 miles
17. Peterborough United – 117 miles
18. Northampton Town – 84 miles
19. Stevenage – 63 miles
20. Luton Town – 57 miles
21. Leyton Orient – 50 miles
22. Wimbledon – 46 miles
23. Wycombe Wanderers – 23 miles
24. Reading – 0 miles

Is one as the crow flies and the other actually driving there?

4 direct train routes from Reading I counted (Exeter, Plymouth, Cardiff, Stockport).

London?

Get a bus to Leyton from Padders?!
More realistically, tube from Waterloo to Wimbledon.

No one is correct (50) and one was a typo (80)
