Good ol' Gordon....he has survived all that have come and gone for best part of 50 years

Part of the furniture.....he still looks fitter than most of us fans.

Not his first day - this was in Elm Park in the 90s, when he'd been groundsman for quite a few years.

It was in the mid-eighties (around 1984 I think). And I think it might have been when he took over as head groundsman.

Are you sure? I could have sworn it was sometime in the 90's. Anyone got the definitive answer?

There was definately an incident like this in the 90's, but I don't know if it is the one that Gordon Neate was on about.

The one Gordon referred to was definetely in the mid eighties, 1984 could seem right.

Was in bed watching MOTD2 but fell asleep during the Chelsea game so missed the report. Does anyone have a link to it?

I remember this, killed all the grass so they then planted some quick growing stuff which couldn't be mown to soon in case it all got torn up again.

The first game of the season was home to Millwall and the grass was visably longer than normal.

Did well to avoid the sack for that.

It was a mistake, people make them.
Reading FC obviously realised this...

Are you thinking about that cup-tie against Southampton where all of their players wore trainers because the pitch resembled a beach?
