Wolves - Back From The Game...

by Thou Voice » 27 Jan 2009 22:38

Wow! What a game...

...very well done to Reading.

Both team cancelled each other out and we were very fortunate with that own goal - but congratulations to Reading for holding on even tho Wolves held the ball well.

Great game.

...but the ref was shit!

Highlights don't suggest we were fortunate. We were only halted from a more comfortable result by a very good performance from Hennesey (sp?).

Good solid performance at home, again! Only the one league defeat at home all season says everything.

The end is closing in now, and suddenly that feeling of promotion is coming back. :P

The ref was poor

He gave stupid fouls to BOTH teams

Fair play to Leroy for playing on, his attitude looks to have definately changed and he now looks like he wants to play for the club

Shane Long was poor as usual, I would much rather Tabb on the bench IMO

Bit lucky with the own goal

but our performance warranted the win we had the better chances and defender well, shame Doobs went off though.

kelly did alright tonight but thought Kebe was MOTM as he was suberb at hitting them on the counter with his pace!!

all in all gd win and only 2 points now!!

Why wasn't Tabb the bench?

Samrfc01 Fair play to Leroy for playing on,

When his arm was popped back in the whole of the lower west stand winced in unison.

'greed

Good win in the end. Thought their defence looked poor. Kebe MOTM had a crackin' game. LOLita, did his shoulder pop out?

Excellent result, decent performance but, most of all, a GREAT game. Considering we've seen some appalling football this season, today's game was a fantastic advert for CCC football. Well done 'ding & Wolves.

In other news, ouch for Leroy (he's a hero for playing on) and ouch for Doobs (broken nose reported by Turns8).

Hennessey had an absolute shocker for the first 52 mins but then made a good one-handed save and was right back in the game. The straight red at the end seemed harsh for dissent only, but fair play to the lino for speaking up.

Er, that's all I've got to say, I think.

Three or four Wolves players had had a verbal pop at him, Collins went that little bit further to the point that it couldn't be ignored.

I wonder if he'll remember this day with pride.

Bit confused by this, apart from a nice intense atmosphere mostly generated by our fans, the football was poor, really poor.

I think you had to be emotionally involved to really appreciate it - not really a game for the neutrals.

But it was played at a good pace with plenty to get excited about. Hence the "decent performance...great game" bit.

Considering that we played an hour with what was a reserve back 4 (or 5 if you want to include Federici) to keep a clean sheet against the league leaders was a superb performance.

Add to that that we had the back up strike force on (and one of them dislocated his shoulder) then that was the performance of the season in many ways.

If we want it, then this division is our's for the taking.

Kebe was decent tonight but my MOM would go to Alex Pearce. He was solid and had Ebanks-Blake in his back pocket all night. Good Work Pearce, deserves to start the next match and i think he will, but Rosenior will definitely come back in.

Give Doyle and Lita upfront a go on Saturday i reckon!

As a fan of a side, the best games do not necessarily involve the best football - that in many ways was one of the best games this season. We have played much better but that's by the by.

'greed. Pearce really stamped himself on the game tonight and didn't mess about. If it needed to be got rid of, it went.

Rabidbee texted me this:

Jarvis rinsed Kelly several times - he was struggling - but he did ok going forward. Pearce always looks good. Considering we lost Doobs and played 10 minutes with ten men, yeah it was good. But they wasted what good chances they made. They only hit the target when they were offside. Fed played well. We weren't good, we worked really hard and took the one bit of luck in the match.
