Us Reading fans aren't actually that bad

I know lots of people like to moan about the atmosphere Reading fans create, and in a lot of games we can be quiet, impatient and critical. However, I've been to the last 2 games. I've come to the conclusion that when the heat's really on and the big games come around, Reading fans are actually superb. We were brilliant today, never stopped signing in the first half and still made plenty of noise in the second. Likewise against Birmingham last week the noise coming from the north and east stands was immense. Burnley on the other hand, appalling today. You'd never guess it was their most important game of the season. I'm confident that the Mad Stad will be electric on Tuesday night, and I just hope it inspires the players.

away support was great. continuous chants/songs throughout and you could see at the end how much the team appreciated it. just so strange how we took more fans to soton and it was probably the worst away atmosphere of the season.i think the difference was yesterday there was the right caliber of royals there. the seating was unreserved so those who wanted to sit made their way to the front whilst those who wanted to stand went to the back and the stewards just allowed it. burnley fans were a bunch of w*nkers, the fella in the corner at the end with his two little asbo kids was unbelievable and a steward just stood and starred at him whilst he was goading us. outside they were no better either! its imperative that we try and make the madjeski a cauldron of noise on tuesday

You can't use the last two games in this argument really can you, bearing in mind we could have got promotion and the second game was a playoff game. Reading fans have been pretty bad all season at home really.So to answer your question they are.

There were quite a few Reading hooligans thier yesterday, which is something I thought we moved away from. Apparently there was a fair bit of trouble in Burnley town centre after the game.

The away support is usually noisy anyway.
It was refreshing to stand all game and being right at the back of the stand and there was only two occasions when a steward came over to me and Benreading for standing on the seats to take photos.
The Burnley support were absolutely dire with the only spark coming from the left when someone got pitch side and was surrounded by the OB. A cheer went up when on of the OB fell arse over tit.

The goading after the game was a reaction to being outplayed all game and getting the lucky win.
After the game the tauning continued with some young prat even throwing a stone at Star coach 1.

As usual you get the laughably gobby RFC fans offering out Burnley fans after the game from the safety of the away end. As they step onto their STAR coach in their replica jerseys safe in the knowledge that their actions mean no further problems for them, those that have to walk round the ground face the verbal/physical goading of the aggressive home fans. Disgusting to be honest, especially when you see nobbers partaking in such actions

The Burnley fans were cnuts, when we kept singing about them being quiet they just kept pointing to the two rows near the tunnel where the twats tried to invade the pitch, somehow implying that they wer ethe vocal support....well done, you Lancastrian twats. After the match they were giving it all that as if they were gods gift to football fans....made me more sick than the result

I'm 6ft 4in and was wearing a Reading shirt. Had to walk from the away end past the side of their stadium and their booking office/club shop and down a few residential streets to get to my car. Their fans were utterpcunts, banging on the sides of my car and constant jeering. Hope we don't have to go there again next season.

Have to agree about attitude of Burnley fans afterwards. One stuck his face into mine and shouted something about RFC not deserving to be in the Premiership because we haven't (yet) sold all our seats for Tuesday's game. I thought in general their fans were perfectly well balanced: equal sized chips on both shoulders.
I would say though, as someone who watches mainly away games, that I was disappointed at last weekend's home game against Birmingham, which was the first time I've been to the Mad Stad this season, that whenever an RFC player made a poor pass a huge groan went up from the home fans. While we all know some fans who moan about anything and everything, I don't recall such a large number of Reading fans showing their disapproval in unison. I'm sure that can't be helpful to our players and it's no wonder they seem not to want the ball when playing at home and try to get rid of it by hoofing it upfield as soon as possible.
I'll be making my second trip of the season to Reading on Tuesday and hope to see and hear the constant noise and positive support from our fans that I've become used to in away games.

Either you had the tv on mute or Sky didn't put enough microphones around the ground.

Sky actually directly monitor the audio to correspond with the picture.For example at the Birmingham away game, after Cisse scored the 3rd goal we were very loud but alot of the play was in the Tilton Road half and therefore we didn't seem as loud as if the camera was pointing right at us. You can tell this from when a song gets quieter and then louder with the pan of the camera. General point, you can always register crowd noise from T.V.
