Bowman's Quiver Why did it take so long to prepare and post such a general synopsis of the club's financial position?

As discussed already, if they'd released it 2-3 weeks ago it would have been taken as related to the story about Arab buyers - they wanted that story to die before releasing this statement.

Bowman's Quiver
And why, when discussing revenue from the Premier League years do they not allow for "transfer activity", but then tell us how much they spent on players bought in to the club (£10.6 million).

I'm not normally one to be critical of the club but Disraeli spring to mind. T'was he who apparently said there are `lies, damn lies and statistics'.

Quite possibly because in accountancy terms profit is one thing and capital movements something else. So transfer money in is capital and doesn't contribute to profit. That is why the statement talks of reinvestment on player transfers - you invest in capital items.

But capital items that are just as likely to depreciate in value as to appreciate in value.

That Friday Feeling And the views of the anti-Madejski crowd will be?

"Yeah, that's all well and good, but where has all the money gone?"

or "Feck off Madejski, but first find someone who's going to give us millions of pounds for no guaranteed reward."
