southbank1871 They'd have been much better off using someone like Ticketmaster tbf, and I fukking h8 them. Guessing TZ are very cheap in comparison though.

Yep. And the obvious point is that we aren't their customers, the Football League is; and the FL never has to deal with us directly, so couldn't really give a shit about the service we receive.

loyalroyal4life good effort by us to sell out within a week, never knew we had so many plastics :P

Everyone's a plastic once - the real test is whether the new people come back again after Monday.

I have season-ticket holding friends whose first game was the 95 final. Didn't Mags say his first game was the Simod final?

No, his was 95 as well.

My first game was the big cup match against City in 93, to be fair. Had never even heard of the club before then.

Norfolk Royal I thought it was quite good. Maybe you just pressed the wrong button or summat.

No Norfolk ... the evidence is clear. Plenty of web savvy people will tell you it failed - TZ's own customer support will tell you - basically when it crashed (several times) due to being unable to cope with demand, it was left with errors on STH / Member No's used and/or tickets allocated. (And anyway, pressing a wrong button or summat, might lead to a frustratingly longer process, but it shouldn't cause an actual business failure. Jeez.)

Plenty of lucky people got through when it didn't crash. They're OK (probably, so far as we can tell so far).

I think Floy'ds first game was the same - and what a well-balanced, positive supporter he's turned out to be.

Call me old fashioned but I do think jumping through a few hoops to get tickets is part and parcel of the big game at wembley experience really

Platypuss TBF, I presume buying "in-demand" tickets from other sites normally don't require the site to also interface with a database of membership numbers provided by a 3rd party. No excuses, but I bet that was the main source of the problem.

Almost certainly. (But as you say, no excuse, not a surprise.)

Yep - it just wasn't geared up for the capacity it got. Maybe that's forgivable, but what's unforgivable is that it didn't handle errors at all gracefully - it just threw a complete wobbly and effectively ended your session with it. Utterly sloppy, utterly unprofessional.

Royal Lady There were queues though. I saw them on the tv and everything. :|

If a service is offered, as previously stated, by a provider to Wembley stadium, why shouldn't people be able to trust in it and use it for ease?

I did for 3 hours. I wanted peace of mind and it was worth it.

None member card holders bitching can fck off.

Just spoke to TZ and they say tickets posted @ 11:46 this am, should be here tomorrow, woohoo!! They did provide me with the tracking number but said it probably won't show anything until they reach the post office, by which time i'll probably already have them.

Mine was indeed the Simod Cup final.

I was only 9 y/o tbf, so a little lacking in disposable income/freedom of movement to attend games when I pleased at the time...

Indeed it is... but the service offered here is a joke.

I can handle a slow service.

I can handle pages timing out.

I can handle random spurious application errors.

What I can't handle is a system that allows you to select a row, takes your money, provides you with a confirmation number AND email and then fails the whole process later in the day because the seats are double booked! As mentioned earlier in this thread that is "Online Ticketing 101".
I don't care if you're interfacing with an external system - once the seats are chosen you lock them with a token and don't release them until either the booking is fulfilled or it's cancelled.

I'm guessing the email I received about the double-booking is the equivalent of the phone call people have been getting (which is good) but what if you gave an office number and they tried to call over the weekend?

To be fair I thought we had gotten over this 'plastic fan' paranoia after the premier league years. Nearly all tickets have been sold to Season Ticket holders (plus 1's) or Member card holders so very few people will be day trippers. Some people have (god forbid) other things in their lives and cannot make more than a few games a season. I have no problem with any buying a ticket, its more money for the club and they might actually come back and watch us again!

Agreed - the main thing I'd like to see from this surge in interest is higher attendances home and away next season, whichever league we end up in.
