Bandini What's unclear about

"When the deadline came to finalise our allocation on Wednesday, less than 24 hours after our win at Everton," :?:

There are 24 hours in most Wednesdays, which one was the deadline?

One before or after City beat Villa? Brendy was asking if we had to confirm before or after we knew who we were playing.

It is clear from FA rules that we had to request our ticket allocation within two days of the draw on 20th February well before we even knew who, if or where we would be playing. Crazy of course but on that basis you can understand why 2800 was asked for (given that we would be expected to pay in full for whatever allocation was requested). Unlike many of the regular upset posters on here RFC under this system were denied the benefit of hindsight.

I'm not seeing why this would be a problem.

You decide on the requested allocation for Man City on the assumption that we beat Everton and City beat Villa.

You decide on the requested allocation for Villa on the assumption that we beat Everton and Villa beat City.

The fact that you don't, at the time, know which, or if any of the scenarios may come to pass is irrelevent.

but without knowing the result of the city villa game we wouldnt know if a replay was required, and therefore wouldnt know if our resulting game would be moved back to a tuesday/wednesday night, when it would be right to assume we wouldnt have sold the 2800, let alone any more.

thats if this is how it all happened at all.

I've already explained the different scenarios further up. Same old smug oxf*rd trying to score points against others who are genuinely just trying to stand up for the other loyal royals and trying to ensure it never happens again. No skin off my nose what the club oxf*rd well did or didn't do, but I just happen to be a bit more charitable than a couple of point scorers on here.

Before the City game it had already been decided that any replay would be the following Monday so the Q/F was always going to take place on the Sunday.

brendywendy ....... it would be right to assume we wouldnt have sold the 2800, let alone any more.

It's all right to stick up for the club and claim that everyone else is using hyperbole and assumptions, but what is the statement above, fact ????
The club can argue all day bloody long, citing the average away attendance, yadda yadda.
The FACT remains that progress in any high profile competition draws in thousands of one off "tourist" supporters, no matter what bleeding club you are.
Progressing to the Q/Finals for only the second time since the war places the club on the radar of those far beyond the hardcore fanbase, and there are precedents everywhere. It trancends a football fixture, and becomes an event.
Exeter took getting on for twice their average home attendance to Old Trafford a few years ago: how many did Crawley take there this year (and it was live on the telly). Where did we get over 40,000 from in the Simod cup final ?

You are free to swallow, whole, all the spin that comes out of the club, making reference to the average numbers of travelling fans, and trying to use that as a guage against a glamour Q/F tie, but I don't.
For me, when the club was asked about how many tickets were required, City said no to sale or return, so our small club mentality reared its head. The club bottled it.

Hell No.

Any thoughts on my earlier post regarding the club's failings in this episode (circa 3 pages back)

Have to say, i'm appalled that this thread have overtaken the extention thread in a matter of days, I put my heart and soul into that.

my point was in support of some erroneous nonsense which has been since sorted out by schards.
but if that had been correct- i think it would have been safe to conclude we wouldnt have taken more than 2800 to eastlands on a monday night.
you are however correct that there is some assumption in that too.

i kind of agree, but that doesnt change the facts that:
we didnt sell out at HOME Vs villa last year in a QF
we took tiny numbers of people to the the liverpool away game and liverpool are a much bigger team than man city.
so it would be totally wrong not to look at that a little bit while guaging the probable man city demand.

im not saying they didnt get that guaging totally wrong.

LOL at swallowing anything hook line and sinker.
im just trying to sift through the assumptions and guesswork to get at the FACTS ma'm
