Checking STs in one part of East Stand only

by Royal Lady » 20 Aug 2014 09:41

:?: Are they looking for someone in particular?

They did it for a bit last season too.

On Saturday, they let a young boy through and then had beef with his dad because he had a member card and couldn't prove where he sat or something....

Was that Y24? They've started checking my ticket as well. Not sure what it's all about, maybe people in Y26 trying to sit in empty seats nearer the halfway line.

What's wrong with that if they're empty though!

Yes it was Y24 - just find it odd really and they won't let you through without showing your ticket. We can get to our seats either by going Y23 or Y24 - so just went Y23 instead.

Probably because it's hard to identify people from CCTV if they were sat in someone else's seat - if someone is sat in your seat making obscene gestures they might assume it's you and send you a ban in the post.... okay, bad example as it might well be you, but you see what I mean.

The guy checking them in Y24 was telling me that it was something to do with the trouble at the Newport game and making sure people weren't going into Y26 that did not have tickets for seats there. He was as pissed off having to check as we were

If that's the reason, then they are wasting their time as anyone wanting to do this can simply enter via Y23 and walk across. It may seem a relatively minor thing but it seemed to be causing some beef between fans and stewards at the Ipswich game and it seems daft to hack off your own supporters unneccesarily.

They'd be better off standing by Y26 and checking seats then!

Where are they checking them? While you're sat down?

As you go through from the concourse into the stadium bowl.

Does seem a pointless exercise. They do it at Y26 too. Did it last year for about the first 5 - 6 games.

It isn't about trouble, not according to the two stewards we were chatting to. It's the same as last season - they're looking for fans that walk across and take seats that aren't theirs.

Agreed.

May sound petty but had my little one with me yesterday, and juggling a drink and 2 hot dogs. Got stopped to show tickets. Had to put everything down on floor, get cards out of wallet etc etc - you get the gist and a right faff

Shirley simpler just to advise fans that if someone is in your seat instead of you tell a steward and they'll ask said person to move their backside. Saves me trying to dig my ST out of wallet while holding drink in one hand and food in the other and clearly lacking the third hand required for said procedure.

Which they can do in the bowl or 10 minutes after kick off. total waste of time. I presume it's just a box ticking exercise.

Yep absolute load of shite waste of time and no doubt money.
If i went in and found somebody in my seat i would just simply tell them to move. If they refuse then just tell a steward.
If a seat isnt empty and not sold then whats the problem?
Lost count of how many times people walk across my row during the first 10 mins or so and disappear into Y25/26.
Last week we have 4 season tickets in my house and when we go through the turnstiles they are all handed back to me. Kids go off for food or to the loo and i go off to the seats. Last week onwas stopped by a steward with attitude who had a right moan becuase one of the 4 tickets was the wrong way round when i fanned them out in my one spare hand and he couldnt read the seat number. What a fuking twat! Then the kids come along and i have their tickets so he wont let them through. I was raging!
This week i kept them out and said "same seats as last week" he wasnt happy...
