Possibly Scholes for me to make a top three.

To choose between the other two is very though. Ronaldo has been excellent this season as has Drogba who carried Chelsea through December and January.

The number of goals Ronaldo scores is as much down to the way Utd play as how well he'd done individually. Ronaldo might not play upfront but the side is almost built to get him on the ball and shooting from all angles, that gives him plenty of opportunities to score, and a lot more than you average winger.

Thats not to take away from his ability as he's been outstanding, it's just an observation.

I think I'd go for Drogba though as I think he's the better team player whereas Ronaldo still tries to make himself look clever at the expense of the team (eg that touch with the sole of his foot which cost him a shot on goal against Liverpool).

I've voted for Drogba, because not only is he havijng a 'top, top' season, but also he has really turned around my attitude towards him. Last season I thought he was a diving donkey, but his goals this performances have been top class. At times I think it's been him who has singlehandedly kept Chelsea in the title hunt this season.

Frank Lampard deserves a shout, 10 league goals already and as many assists.

Yet again out performing Steven Gerrard.

Spacey is still to answer why, after stating that 'goals win games' and that 'Drogba has carried Chelsea with his goals', why he won't credit Henry for doing exactly the same, on both counts, for Arsenal, scoring a running total of 257 goals in all competitions in the last 8 seasons.

As cmonarse has just raised the point, perhaps it would be interesting to see a demographic of type of goals scored and against which type of opposition between the two players. I guess that sort of information would probably be hard to find out, so we'll probably never agree and stick to our opinions.

Isn't that exactly the kind of info Sky spend three hours oxf*rd over... discussing before each and every game?

strikes me that Ronaldo has drifted in and out of the season a little, altrhough in the Prem he has carried his form.

Drogba though has played brilliantly all season in all competitions.

Just stating facts, Lampard has had a fantastic season and is on course to get close to 15 league goals yet again. Gerrard has 5 goals and less assists than 'Fat Frank' yet it's Lampard who is over rated

Ronaldo goals

Left 6 Yard: 3
Right 6 Yard: 2
Left Channel: 2
Left Penalty Area: 2
Centre Penalty Area: 5
Penalty Spot: 2

Drogba goals

Left 6 Yard: 3
Right 6 Yard: 1
Left Channel: 4
Left Penalty Area: 3
Right Penalty Area: 4
Centre Penalty Area: 3

I'd say it was fairly even. Ronaldo has scored 5 inside the 6 yard box while Drogba has scored 4.

Lampard has won it though. Consistently out assisting and scoring Gerrard every season.

We're still waiting for Gerrard to hit his peak though.....

Surely: "You let your country down".

Back on topic, Drogba. He's been excellent more or less every game. He's been the centre of all their attacking play, has scored a shit load of goals, and is invaluable at the back at set pieces.

SpaceCruiser But Drogba has already scored 29 goals. Should he get more than 30 goals, he will surpass Kerry Dixon's record - is that true?

Whereas Ronaldo has only scored 16 goals. All in the league.

I never knew, until you just posted it, that player of the year is all about how many goals a player scores - amazing!!!

And why not? Surely scoring the most goals wins you games? Fancy tricks and step overs don't win you a game.

LOL - you retard!

Anyone can put a ball into the net from a yard out.......its all about the build up. If a player can influence a game and set up 3 goals then surely they are better than someone who just taps them into an empty net?!

Not all of Drogba's goals were tap ins. Also, Ronaldo has scored a few tap ins himself. As an example, his first goal in the Old Trafford league fixture against Reading was a simple tap in, nothing more.

Errrm ok :?
So it shouldn't be judged by how many goals a player scores then!? - make your mind up.
