You're right. I should have said I very much doubt it.

US Soccer --our FA-- are due a rigorous inspection

I really do wonder to what extent it's a closed shop, our national team --and whether or not the feder7ion are genuinely acting in the interest of winning this thing within my lifetime or if instead its foremost priority is on doing things its own fussy damned way

Anyway, stealing more of my own material from elsewhere:

I'm just not grasping this...my boys were awful, and here Ghana --"carrying the hopes of an entire continent on their shoulders" or so they were purported to be*-- were okay, and they still needed more'n 90 minutes to put away a side with no strikers worthy of being so called, centre-halfs of Championship standard and half of the central midfield tandem a selection mistake corrected a half an hour in. You'd think we were Italy the way folks are reacting (and, in some cases, celebrating)

Haven't come across a celebrator yet - even on this hallow'd portal. OK, the starting selection was wrong, but the line-up that finished was just short an international striker. I really don't think having DeMerit and Bocanegra at CD was a big issue. One last piece of introspection and I'm done for this cycle of US soccer: there's tons of junior talent over here, but 20-year-old US stars will continue to arrest their development by heading for the big European leagues. Get established and come at 25 (as the majority of South Americans do)

If you want to advance to the final 8 in a WC you need to be able to finish.

/end of

Still, I think it is a step in the right direction.
